Server Move

Hi Folks

Due to some hardware issues (the previous hosting server was not in great shape) we moved to a new server.  The move is now complete, so if you're reading this notice it means you're on the new server and we're open for business once again.

Thanks for your understanding and happy collabs!

Cool. Glad it went smoothly!

March 22, 2015, 01:48:20 PM
It might be a bit more sluggish for the next day r two while all the backups, etc get caught up.  It will be even snappier once all that stuff is done!

March 22, 2015, 12:18:12 PM
Much nicer! Cool

March 22, 2015, 06:31:51 AM
Seems to be moving fast now Mark. I noticed it was getting a bit glitchy. Thanks for keeping us moving bro!!  Cool

March 22, 2015, 01:53:59 AM
Ok move complete.  If you notice any issues please send me a PM.

March 21, 2015, 04:52:03 PM
Just a heads up folks .. big server move coming up very very shortly.  There's a box on the front page about it (just in case you didn't see it already).  Hopefully the downtime will be minimal!

March 11, 2015, 06:48:18 PM
Nice..Yeah collection only is a PITA if you didn't notice !

March 11, 2015, 10:55:38 AM
The Rednal thing is solved. I bought a guitar on ebay which was collection only but I hadn't realised. I found and old friend who lived close. It's an Epiphone Nighthawk (in Black) before you ask...

March 11, 2015, 04:33:28 AM
7,418 km's away. I guess that counts me out. Tongue

March 11, 2015, 12:22:28 AM
45 miles away. I may well be the closest

March 10, 2015, 11:54:48 PM
Does anyone here live near Rednal, Birmingham, UK? if so please message me I need a favour Smiley

March 10, 2015, 01:45:56 AM
Congratulations and celebrations Billy!

March 08, 2015, 02:35:46 PM
Thanks for everyone who voted for Donna and me a while back. We did win the vote.

March 08, 2015, 10:59:09 AM
Wink wink

March 06, 2015, 01:42:08 PM
I tend not to worry about mp3 or clicks....as long as the audition is usable (wink, wink)

March 05, 2015, 10:54:31 PM
Yeah but even with clicks it's difficult. People use differnt click sounds and they have different transients and attack times. You end up not being able to tell if some's timing is off or the tracks are out. If we use WMA it's absooute..no guesswork

March 05, 2015, 04:35:31 PM
Dave - mp3's are feasible for tracking as long as everyone religiously included intro clicks and you line them up... but not the best I agree.

March 04, 2015, 11:52:56 PM
I'll have to try a song or two on Kompoz to really see what it's about. I did try at one time but couldn't get anything going. In any case I would still like to see more players here.

March 04, 2015, 08:38:25 PM
Why would the file handling be better there? I see a lot of mp3's for tracking which are the worst for padding issues. Huh?

March 04, 2015, 08:08:43 PM
I like MCS, and I like Kompoz. The file handling is much better at Kompoz, and there is way more traffic there, but communication is a lot better at MCS. At Kompoz it is very hard to keep track of things ...

Anyway, there are great people at both sites.

March 04, 2015, 07:04:27 PM
Yeah.. that's the part I don't get. I have heard some really great music come out of there but it's the forum here that truly makes it a collaboration. Thanks Nick & Mark Smiley

March 04, 2015, 04:20:24 PM
The forum format here makes it all much friendlier than at Kompoz. I did a couple of things there but you don't feel part of a community. INteracting in the forum thread is spot on.

March 02, 2015, 08:40:31 PM
Yeah I checked it out once and didn't like it..never went back

March 02, 2015, 12:12:48 PM
I joined the K site years ago but it never appealed to me .. too messy and the projects I looked at didn't seem to be the same quality ... The only project i ever did over there was one for Casia

March 02, 2015, 08:12:14 AM
I meant players... I must be used to saying studioplayer all the time.. There's only one of me....thank god!! Tongue

March 02, 2015, 08:09:44 AM
Even with only a few studio players here it's still the best site to work out tunes. Great place to learn stuff too. Smiley

March 01, 2015, 02:09:38 PM
You guys must be talking about Kompost.

March 01, 2015, 11:38:07 AM
It Konfused me too!

February 28, 2015, 08:34:14 PM
I have never been able to figure out that site. I like this format here where we can chat and discuss the progress of each song. You don't have that over there. I'm surprised more players are not here.

February 28, 2015, 05:30:57 PM
Yeah, a lot of people hang at the K site. I always thought we were a little more sociable over hear.Cool

February 26, 2015, 08:49:09 PM
I remember when this place was just hustling with action. So much slower now. We need to get some players in here.

February 17, 2015, 03:33:12 AM
RIP Mike Sad

February 16, 2015, 08:13:08 AM

February 08, 2015, 02:21:05 AM
Did someone say Bill and Dave have been sighted?!

February 07, 2015, 08:58:20 PM
Yeah... Thinking of coming back in this year. It would be nice to do some tunes again. Smiley

February 07, 2015, 08:10:20 PM

That's so sad! I remember when Mike told us all that he had bad news from the doctor. That seemed so long ago, and I had hoped and prayed that we would hear some good news from Mike. Every collaboration we shared will be special to me, each time I hear that lead guitar.

February 02, 2015, 04:40:16 PM
Oh no! Sad news. Mick was a great musician but he was also a friend. We made music together and we talked a lot...

I will always remember you Mick!

February 02, 2015, 12:39:56 AM
Hi Guys, Tricia started a thread in Mike's honour, you could post anything you might have worked on with him we have a few on there but I'm sure there are many more. This is the  link http://www.musicianscollaboration.com/forum/index.php?topic=11049.msg214228#msg214228

February 01, 2015, 09:24:21 PM
R.I.P MIKE and thank you for all your songs

February 01, 2015, 08:06:16 PM
Sad news. I hope there's a bloody great jam session going on up there with Marc Traynor right now.

February 01, 2015, 11:30:30 AM
Rest in peace, Mick. We did a couple of collabs together, and I always loved what he was able to do with his guitar. He always found the right tone and performance.

February 01, 2015, 01:36:05 AM
Sad to hear the news! Such a great guy! He even offered to take me to see Joe Bonamassa if I could get to NY.

January 31, 2015, 08:09:08 PM
We had some collabs here and at the beginning of his diagnosis we chatted here and on fb... R.I.P., my friend!

January 31, 2015, 08:07:45 PM
Sorry to hear about Mike. RIP...

January 31, 2015, 06:49:48 PM
While my guitar gently weeps.

RIP Mick.

January 31, 2015, 05:32:43 PM
It was a pleasure Mick, see ya in the wind.
