Title: Corporate Dogs (Hardrock Version)
Post by: stoman on May 29, 2015, 02:13:27 PM
There are two versions of this song (with different musicians). This one is the hardrock version with Mark on guitar and vocals. I hope you'll enjoy it! :)

CORPORATE DOGS
(Hardrock Version)

Lyrics: John Williams
Guitars, Vocals: Mark A. Shrider
Bass: Alberto P.

a long time coming but worth the wait.
turned out pretty killer.
you make me sound like i know what i'm doing.
like i told you already this is what i was hoping for when coming here to MCS.
that musicians with differing styles and musical visions could come together and meld those styles into something original.

Nice - It has a ZZTop 8) feel to it (Afterburner) Good production - I like the Kansas-like keyboard sound starting around 4min mark. I swear Billy Gibbons is playing guitar!

Great job to all!

Enjoyable collab guys. Mark's vocals and guitars are rocking.

Steffen your keys are super with that nod to Alan Parson Projects Pyschobabble.

Not sure about the bass and drums, they are good in their own right but not necessarily complementing the feel of the hard rock version.

Thanks for listening, guys!

Andy, I agree - some nice hardrock drumming would be cool, but who knows if we would ever have finished any version of the song at all then. It's not so easy to get people interested these days ...

But if somebody here at MCS wants to give it a try, let me know - and if you like, Andy, we could then make an even more rocking version with you on bass.

Nice rocker... Mark, your voice fits perfectly in this genre, man \m/...

... And the guitars work is very good...

... Drums are OK, some rocking fills here and there would be nice...

... The bass should be pumping instead of dancing, IMHO

... Nice keys and mix, Steffen

All in all ... ROCKING ALL THE WAY

thanks everyone for listening & the kind comments.
and Steffen i think more than a lack of interest is people do get busy & sometimes they overlook something & sometimes i find they're interested if you contact them about playing.
also, & especially in something like this, i think they don't have the vision to see something like this through.
think about how it started & what it became.
we came from completely different musical points of view on this.
& honestly i must have missed this in studio A as i came on board after Johnny contacted me.
and as with anything there are times of lull around here & times when music is knocked rather quickly.
at the end of the day i'm pretty satisfied with how this turned out.

Right said Fred.....Mark :).

Steffen I wouldn't mind doing a version more akin to the way it started out. I've always heard it as an Alan Parsons like tune.

In any case Mark has covered the hard rock version nicely. We could replace the bass and drums however. I am up for that.

If you could send the seps (sans the guitars at this point) transposed to E (the key currently is in B) I could have a play at an APP version.

8) 8) 8) Steffen, Mark, Alberto ?  ;D

Like waking up to bacon & eggs! (in my other life phase)

a side of crispy hash browns....(yea, I'm off the stuff these days)

A lovely odor sooo profound (Some memories will never fade)

This is great work all around, (like colorful shades of grey)

And now it slices into, The Thief!...(smooth as a hot butter-knife)

To see this here is such a relief (as mile-stones in life)

Cheers Fellas, to this very cool song (not that I'm surprised)

& Thank you for letting me tag-along (this is a fabulous ride)  ;)

Thanks, everybody! :)

The drums are me playing on my keyboard. If any drum guy whose heart beats for hard-rock reads this, feel free to volunteer! :)

The bass is real, but it was recorded for a different version of the song (which is still work in progress).

Great rocker, Guys!!   8)

The guitars sounds great, Mark!  Nice guitar hook in the verses, and a nicely done solo as well!   8)
