Title: Super Hadron Collider (Version 2 - dedicated to the memory of Mark Cole)
Post by: AndyG6508 on August 22, 2015, 03:57:44 PM
What was due to be a celebration turned into a sad occasion...the passing of Mark Cole shortly after he contributed drums to this recording.

It is a shock to everyone who knew him on MCS.

Mark was a wonderful drummer, but more importantly a great guy. Mark you will be missed, rock on!!

This version has the vocals handled by Smithie, he did a wonderful job. Not much else different, except we used my keys track this time around.

Finally, Frank helmed the mixing desk to produce a superlative mix.

Paul's lyrics remain amazing, one of his best.

Super Hadron Collider (Paul Dempsey/Andy Gupta)

Super Hadron Collider (original lyric:PVD)

bpm=98

(v1)
Am/A5
Who could have imagined
That something so tiny
Could mean so much
It’s something - that you can't feel
Something you can't sense or touch

(v2)
A puzzle part that's missing
Shielded for a long time
It's place of hiding is now known
A burst of light - for a moment
And its colors will be shown

(pre-chorus)
D
Back to the beginning - before (the) worlds were spinning
Am/A5
Fulfill a need to rush at (the) speed of light
D
A glimpse never lasting - all dots connecting (2nd time: every bit expanding)
E                                                                  E  D
A journey in search of relief (2nd time: belief)

(chorus)
A5      C       D       G   A5
Super Duper Hadron Collider
A5         C            D   G   A5
Hidden away by a master thief
Super Duper Hadron Collider
A collision of knowledge and belief

Interlude: D5

(v3)
With a thousand eyes watching
Each one never blinking
Two bosons race to collide
There's two keys to open the door
To see what's beyond the other side

(pre-chorus)
(chorus)
Main Solo: D A5 D E

great song & great performances.
love this mix.
sounds full - especially the drums.
i was thinking smithc's voice was reminding me of someone but can't quite place it.
maybe kenny loggins...(danger zone era)...idk...sounds great though.

Mark Cole was definitely a great guy, and a great musician.  I am very thankful that I had a chance to make music with him.

R.I.P Mark... You will be missed.

For some reason I only listened to V1 during the mix sessions...
This one I like better!!!!

R.I.P. Mark... great drumming on this. :'( :'( :'(

To me, V2 sounds "better" in terms of clarity, drumsound and guitars especially now having compared them...
