Title: coming home - now with Steves (pleasuredome) vocals!
Post by: soulfrontier on August 09, 2010, 02:11:05 AM
Hello MCS,

I'm happy and proud to present you now the song with Steves vocals. Steve took the song and with his great talent and unique style he turned it into something completely new. Its a higher level.
Listen to his voice and you will see what I mean.

Thank you so much Steve, its amazing how different a song can be with different voices and vocals.
I really love this great version!
A big thanks goes also to Paulo, he played the keys and he was very busy over the last days with mixing this song for us.
Mick played the wonderful electric guitars and wrote the bridge part. Johns drums are awesome like always and Andy played a great bass line!
Thank you my friends!

all vocals                                       :  Steve McAndrew (pleasuredome)
electric guitars, music and lyrics         :  Mick Lovering, (mickbrit55)
keys, mixing/master                         :   Paulo Gomes, (Paulo)
bass                                             :   Andy Gupta, (AndyG6508)
drums                                           :   John Wooten,  (jwoo10)
acoustic guitar, music, lyrics              :  Holger Bremer, (soulfrontier)

                       --------------THANK YOU ! --------------

lyrics:

coming home

all the way its coming down, its coming back to me
to where I found my home.
All the way and the feeling's coming over
to play hide and seek again.

Through the river that I crossed over
through the valley of the kings
over mountains and through the wilderness

I'm coming home

And now I'm sitting here and let it all come in
there's a better way.
See the sunrise and I watch a bird
and this tune will make my day.

You are here and you are there - everywhere!
I found a place where I belong.
You may see me in the shape of this old tree
and the birds will sing you a song.

come on come on sing a song
for my love, oh for my love

I'm coming home to where the light burns brighter
I'm coming home to warm by the fire

I'm coming home to feel safe and higher
I'm coming home to hear the sound of laughter

Ah, there's a better way
Ah, it will make my day

It takes away all my fears
And through the cool mist you'll see

I'm coming home

--------------------------------

enjoy the music!

Hi Steve,

An amazing version of Holger's classic!!! I've heard many a fine vocal from you, but this one has to be right up there as one of your very best.

I really like the fact that in both your and Holger's versions..the singer sings like he really means it.

Paulo thanks for all those hours spent on mixing this song you did a wonderful job.

Well done guys!
Andy

Well Percy you would be glad to know that Ive got Zep III and Houses of the Holy in the car on constant rotation since last week!! This song would fit in effortlessly in either of the two albums.

Andy that's a big compliment for the song! Thank you, I was happy to see that you guys recognized the shape of an old Zeppelin in the sky  ;D it really made me smile!
And Steves voice suites the song perfectly.
 :)
yes its true I had Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin in mind when I wrote this song. I'm a huge fan of Robert. He's the greatest Rock voice ever imo . I love also his solo work! At the moment I read a book about him from Neil Daniels. Its the one and only book about this great musician so far. And I listen to his solo albums and also to the old Zep stuff.
I had never the chance to see Led Zep or Plenty live. Maybe this year in october when he comes to Edinburgh with the band of joy.
 ;)

But we should not forget that Mick wrote the powerful bridge part! It was a real team work and the result is
so much more that I've ever expected.
I'm deeply impressed by all the interest in this song, all your great contributions and all the kind comments!
thank you all
 :)

Guys,

My wife really likes this and wants to pass this version to a friend who has potential radio contacts.

Could the writers please give me the necessary authorization?

I hold no copyright, having only sang it and certainly wouldn't do anything without permission!!

Steve, good news!

Sure bro, I'm happy and proud about the interest and hope that this wonderful version will be played in the radio!
I think everyone who was a part of it  has the right to use it and make it public. I really have no idea about the rights, I think its clear that we all have the same rights when we work together.
Its great to see that this song continues to move people. And the band is international. I would love to hear it in the radio!!!
And if the song can help to show more people your great talent that would also make me happy.
Best regards to your wife and good luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

cheers
Holger

Great work guys!
I had passed this one by, thinking I already heard it - then remembered there TWO versions. It's amazing that this same song can be so good and so different on each version.
I think on Holger's version, I would listen to it at home, in front of a toasty warm fire (hopefully in the fireplace).
On Steve's version, I'd be playing it when the guys come over to play cards - and ALL the music played is from the 70's.

Best of luck with the radio spot.
Congrats to the whole team. 8) 8)

Yes Holger, nice to see a little reprise for this one. I was asked to produce a CD for some people at work and without exception they all loved this track.

Steve is a great vocalist but I have to say that my preference is for Holgers original vocal, this seems a tad overdone for my taste.

Mick.

I deliberately did overdo it Mick because I deliberately sung like Robert Plant who is only now underdoing it!!! >:D >:D

I would like to know where it would sit in a poll across the site as to preference!! :D :D

Goes without saying that I loved the fact you asked me to sing it in the first place Holger, because I didn't volunteer but was asked by Holger himself 8) 8)

Hey guys the two vocals are different and that was the intention! I know that Steve did it with Plant in mind  :)
I really like Steves version and I'm happy and proud that he liked this song so much, he laid down a very emotional performance here.
Thank you dome!
I recall that I came to a point where I said to myself lets give it up and then I asked Steve for help.
I have my limitations and problems 'cause I'm not skilled enough and unpractised. And if my vocals were decent in the end the credit for that belong to Paulo  ;) who knows what his magic hands did with my rough vox tracks  ;)  ;D

This song and collaboration will be forever in my heart. It turned out great and it seems to me that we have here a real classic MCS track.

thx again!
