Another song finished for the "Dark Dolphin" Project

Wow, I've just checked and this song was started over a year ago . I wanted a more laid back song for the album and wrote the basic tune for this. It was difficult to know which direction to take it in as some good initial ideas were posted but eventually it found it's own identity due to the skill and musicianship of the people involved. In April I started singing lessons so I can improve the final vocals on my own songs and this was the track I practised over and over with my teacher. although it's far from perfect I think it's much better and am continuing to enjoy the lessons..Never too late to teach an old dog some new tricks. Massive thanks to everyone who helped with this one.  :)

Home Again

Verse
Nobody knows what has got me
Or worked out a way to stop me falling
Into a world cold and empty
Filled with the things that were made to tempt me

Chorus
I'm so broken inside
That nothing is scared, my soul is denied
All of the little things that bring so much joy
Taken away from me when I was a boy
And I just can't go home again

Verse
Everyone knows that I'm sliding
Into the abyss
Where there is no hiding
Pulls me away from my senses
Stripped to the bone of my own defences

Chorus

I'm so broken inside
That nothing is scared, my soul is denied
All of the little things that bring so much joy
Taken away from me when I was a boy
And I just can't go home again

Bridge

And as this nightmares clearing
Your name is all I'm hearing

Verse
Everyone knows what has got me
And worked out a way to stop me falling
Into a world cold and empty
Devoid of the things that were made to tempt me

Chorus

I'm so broken inside
That nothing is scared, my soul is denied
All of the little things that bring so much joy
Taken away from me when I was a boy
And I just can't go home again

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Thank you for the compliment. It is such a killer song that, even though it's not in my comfort zone its easy to tap into. That's the mark of a great song. You should be very proud of how your seed has grown into this epic.
Well done everyone else involved to turn this into the epic song that it is. Great work  8)

Very nice... A lot of flavours from 80's pop synths to great orchestral string...

... Great mix of textures. Good tune, folks.
Live the best you can 'cause you're gonna be dead for a long time.
Respect

Albino used the word 'epic'. True! A tremendous song, guys, from the lyrical story to the top-notch music and all-round performance. CD, your voice sounds so good here.

Sounds great, Mark. You can hear the difference in your singing ability. Very impressive. Where would you put this on the album....song 2?

To me it´s the "classic" ballad on an album.
In the "early days" these songs where on no. 3 or 4 of an album... ;D
