Still haven't used it (too little time for experiments at the moment, so I stick with the tools I'm familiar with for now). But I'll report when I can.

I tried it on the drum bus (parallel compression) recently. Works pretty well and is worth a recommendation IMO.

Does it do anything special I can't do with the many others I have already ?

Well ... every compressor does something that no other compressor does, that's the nature of the beast. The question is: do you need it? If you are only after "technical" compressors, just one of the simple ones that come with your DAW will do. But of "character compressors" I can never get enough. I have dozens of compressors of which I only use three or four on a regular basis, but I do use all of the others every now and then. When a song calls for it I want to have the right tool at hands (the same holds for reverbs).

As for the TDR compressor: First of all it is a feedback compressor (like the 1176). It makes a softer/smoother sound and reacts more musically than "standard compressors" IMO.

Well I already have several good 1176 style plugins including the Liquidmix version so probably not essential then.

Probably not. But then again - they all do sound different. I have some 1176 style compressors too, but if I can get another one for free, I don't think about it.

Just posted in another thread about the same compressor plugin. This is a good compressor and I use it for mastering. I say download it and try it.

Does it do anything special?

it wont grow you hair if that's what you mean however it does sound good and look good to me.
