I started this collab a few years back but have been offsite since (unfortunately). I re-sang this today and think I'll call this one done unless I can replace my Kermit the Frog vocals... :P ...or if anyone wants to make any suggestions.
Appleluza did both the strumming and finger picking guitars. I wrote the words & music. Thanks for checking it out.
:)
Staying in this lonely room
Listening to the wind and rain
I lie awake
With swirling thoughts I can't explain
All the words I never said
Knowing I can't put things right
So I contemplate
The golden strands of morning light
And a tear falls
Another tear falls
When the emptiness calls
A tear falls
Another tear falls
My tears fall
For you
At night I walk alone
And the feeling comes again
I then call your name
And search the truth from deep within
The mistakes I know I made
And the schemes I had to try
Are now put away
With all the hopes we kissed goodbye

Good listen.

Not hearing Kermit here! Nice job guys! ;)
-
Thanks guys! :)
-
I never knew that Kermit can sing so pretty. :)
If you ever want to lend the frog to somebody, knock on my door! I can definitely use that voice!
Well done. Post more! :)
Regards,
Steffen
-
Thanks Steffen. I guess most of us don't like the sound of their own voice. I'd be happy to try some vocals for somebody but I know I really do have a very limited range. I certainly will be posting more. I have a stack of unfinished or half written songs and I am always looking to try and help out wherever I can. Thanks for listening! :)
-
If Kermit sings like this, lemme be Kermit.
Beautifull song... Beautifull song... Beautifull song... Beautifull song... Beautifull song.

Gee whiz! Thank you so very much!!! :) It feels really great to be back at this site and getting involved in music again. :) :)
-
Nice job, Erol. Your vocal sounds good on this. I honestly don't remember doing the guitar part, but glad you could use it.
I'm going to take a page out of your book and try a more minimalist approach on a bunch of my songs - just my guitar, my voice and maybe one or two other little accent parts. The spare arrangement is nice.

I agree with Rob on this one Errol. I like the simplicity of this, reminds me of sitting with friends and a coffee at one of the local "open Mic" nights. 8)

oh what a beautiful song!!!
Have you ever heard about Stephen Duffy???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD2hOykPNGQ&feature=related
He is one of the worlds greatest songwriter, he wrote hits for Robbie Wiliams and others and he has a lot of beautiful great songs.
Man, listen to your voice I could swear you ARE Stephen! How strange.
However, great song and performance you both.
-
Thanks guys! Really appreciate the comments.
I don't know Stephan Duffy but I will be sure to check him out.
It's great to be back at this site!! :) :)
-
I enjoyed this Errol!
As always, a very nice song.
Good job to you and Rob and good to have you both back!

Errol, this sounds great!
I agree with others about the minimalist approach...For this song...it's perfect...unless you happen to know a good violinist ::) Cheers, Johnny
-
Thanks Johnny. Yes, a violin would be nice. The door will always be open to new versions. :)
-
I love the simplicity of this, your vocal suits it perfectly...maybe a little eq , fix up the couple of notes where you went off and a touch more vocal ambience would make it sparkle.
Very Nice :)

Thanks CD, that's good feedback. I don't really know much about mixing but I'll play around with it some more. And yes, I hear those stray notes and I'll try and fix 'em. Thanks!! :)

Wow! Thanks, that would be great! I'll try a couple more vocal runs a little later today and post something soon. :D

OK , cool :)

Ok. I re-sang a few more times but still struggled with the same notes so this might not sound much different. 3 raw files with no effects at all. I really appreciate your interest offer to help! :)
-
I'll see if I can fix them up at my end.

It's beautiful, Errol and Appleuza! What speed did you record this at?

Hi Paul! Thanks very much. I don't remember the bpm for this. This song was started quite a while back. I could probably find it though on my old computer.
(i should be able to get it going.) I'll check it out. Thanks for listening. :)
-
Here you go Errol...the new vocal take was certainly better than the older one, there really was only about three or four words that drifted off pitch enough to warrant fixing.
It sounds quite different to your mix, so have a listen and come back to me if there's any changes you want.

Sensational! Thanks so much CD!!!!
Just one small thing - and ONLY if it is easy and not a hassle. In the first chorus, I am bugged by the word 'falls' before the last line of the chorus 'my tears fall for you'. I seemed to get it better in the final chorus. Would it be possible to copy, cut and paste that last one? (hope that makes sense). I should have noticed that myself the first time. If it is a hassle, you have already done a fantastic job! Really appreciate your help. :) :)

...and this one is more similar to the original..... a bit darker and drier sounding...with the slightly unusual panning you had 8)

Sure...did you mean around 1min 24.... I think it sounds great..has a bit of emotion , but I can swap if you like - just tell me which of the 2 mixes you prefer and I'll do it later after I put the kids to bed.
CD

I actually mean the one around 1:17 on the WMA.
I was probably emotional because I was worried about singing the next line. ;D

Ok...let me know which of the two mixes you prefer and I'll fix it

Sorry, I didn't see the 2nd version until just now. Sounds great too but I like the first version you sent best. Thanks again! :)
-
Ok , here's the fixed up version - swapped the offending word ( which I'd actually pitch corrected already on the previous one ;D )
CD
PS - Just ignore the silence at the start, I trimmed off the noise
-
DOH !
I forgot to leave a copy of the word at the end on that last one ;D ;D ;D
CD
...your song reminds me a little of this Erasure song...

Excellent CD. Thanks. It's great to have you do this. I'm not flash at mixing at all but trying to learn birt by bit. And thanks for helping with that 'falls'. Worked out great. Very happy!
:) :)

And yes, I like that Erasure song. :)

Did you want an Ape of the Wave File ?

PS - I like your signature...I usually find if I'm stuck that C+9 works really well too ;D

Nice tune Errol. I listened to CD's mix and it sounds really great. It's nice to hear a simple song for a change. Great job on the vocals and I really love the chorus. Very nice. Good job guys!! 8)

Hey Errol nice to hear this again.
Sounds great with a fuller production too !
-
Thanks CD. And thanks again for your previous help with this one.
-
I prefer the fragile feel of the original version, but if I did not know it, I'd like this one a lot too. :)
