grrrrr I'm about ready to start kicking shit.

I got my rig FINALLY all set back up, but I'm having issues with Sonar that have just baffled me.  Clicking, constantly in all audio, I mean really bad clicks and pop, I've played with buffers, I've gone through the message boards, but I really haven't got a clue.  Did replace the hard drive since the last time I was recording, so Its gotta be something to do with that, but dayam it if I can figure it out.

Anybody got any suggestions???

(Desperately trying to get back)

Clicking can come from a number of sources ... hard drive too slow/too fragmented, sync problems, driver fighting with windows itself, etc.  :(  I'd triple check that your sound card is not sharing the resources with windows (i.e. set windows to NOT use it for anything, use your built in sound).

check your audio driver latency.

If it's to low, it will do what you described.

Hmm,
If all of the above fails, scan the sonar manual for changing the clock source to internal.   With a simple setup I doubt that's it, unless you've got midi or optical/lightpipe going on.

Brina !! Welcome back!! Well... maybe soon.  :P  I had similar problems when I was setting up my Sonar. As Nick & Marc mention. Check the latency or if your set for internal or external clock source. If that fails then as Tricia said.. disable your wireless thingy.  ;D   Just keep checking things out. Forums are a good place to get answers. Hope you join the fun soon.  :)

Which driver you using Brina ?

Asio or WDM ?

Might be worth downloading the Asio4all universal driver...cured a similar problem on a friends laptop

**sigh**

i've tried every range i can think of or was recommended on the forums for the latency and different buffers,  and ASIO drivers won't work system crashes within the first 2 seconds of audio, if there's any sound at all., WDM is the only thing where i hear any audio at all...no sharing of audio.....it worked great with the other hard drive...now just dunno...i'll keep plugging away....

Your system is a desktop now, isn't it??  I would assume then that the drive you replaced it with is a 7200RPM drive.  If it was an older 5400 RPM drive that might be the issue.

Also, catch me on skype later if you can!

I've done loads of recording on machines with a 5400 & even a 4200rpm Hard drive , I doubt it's that.  More likely some kind of Irq conflict...but Brina needs to post up more details .
