Crossing Abbey Road
(v1)
A woman I once loved
Walks towards me slowly
Wraps a maxi-coat around her
In a gesture almost holy
She looks quite normal
An impression that won't last
She's caught in amber
A jewel from the past
Pre-chorus
Those were the days my friend
For her they'll never end/never end
Chorus
Her mind's a Bermuda Triangle
Filled with psychedelic waste
It's all unchartable space
And the only thought she holds
Is to count aloud the zebra stripes
While crossing Abbey Road/crossing Abbey Road
(v2)
We strolled once through Hyde Park
Giggling in the rain
Ate a 99 Flake
From the ice-cream van
Watched a three-dimension rainbow
As it glorified the skies
And when the sun returned
I saw it dancing in her eyes
Pre-chorus
Those were the days my friend
For her they'll never end/never end
Chorus
Her mind's a Bermuda Triangle
Filled with psychedelic waste
It's all unchartable space
And the only thought she holds
Is to count aloud the zebra stripes
While crossing Abbey Road/crossing Abbey Road
Short instrumental break
Lift
Her elevator stops at the 13th floor
At a room that's never locked
The dead are always grateful
When she comes to sit and talk
Longer instrumental break
(v3)
Now she lives by herself
But is never alone
Voices laughing in her head
Though no one ever phones
She fell from Lucy's diamond sky
But can still describe the ways
She hears the colours in her mind
Sees notes when music plays
Pre-chorus
Once the woman held me fast
Now she walks blindly past
Chorus
Her mind's a Bermuda Triangle
Filled with psychedelic waste
It's all unchartable space
And the only thought she holds
Is to count aloud the zebra stripes
While crossing Abbey Road/crossing Abbey Road

First listen! Very interesting, I think I just got an acid flashback to the 60's! Not that I was old enough to have a flashback to the 60's! ;D I got a kick out of the 13'th floor vocal area. Excellent performance, guys, and Donna you always write some cool lyics!
-
Hey Everyone,
A great listen.
Super write, performance and production. The Beatles 67-68 era sound has been captured perfectly.
I too enjoyed the 13th floor vox squiggle and the "seagull" like loops from Tomorrow Never Knows that Ray slipped in.
I'd like to thank Andy too. He in fact approached me with the overall idea and asked me to write the lyric. He was a gracious mentor. ;)

Dig the 'big' intro vibe. there's a tension throughout but in a major chord sense (hope that makes sense). Also way dig the movements. Gives me a feeling of travel'n the musical universe. Way way enjoyed and thanks for sharing. Rard

Hi Ray - I would greatly appreciate it if this is how you put my name in the credits. You can leave off my MCS name if you wish, but I'd like my real name associated like the rest of the band - if it's not too much trouble.
Take care and the final mix kicks ass!!!
-
Thanks for the name update, Neal.
Ray, could you please also fix the spelling of my name. Rather than D. Divine it should be Donna Devine. Thanks. ;)

There's been renewed interest in this one. Some nice kudos for you guys. ;)

Love the lyrics...well done, Donna! And I really like the music, and the themes explored between the two - they are definitely Beatlesque and slightly psychedelic, and all of that really is my cup of tea. Sounds like a Mellotron or Mellotron patch being used there, and I love that sound. Cuthbert
--------
Really a pro production here - I'm back in the 60s! Love it! HL

One of my favorites from this year as well.
Is there a credit missing? The woman's voice talking to her imaginary friends.... "so, how's your diet going?", "That's not much!". I'm still trying to pick out everything she says in there. Was that lifted from a movie?
-
:) that clip I grabbed from a british how to speak english site, didnt think it would work at all..
Ray
-
It works. She's very charming. I was sure it was someone' s wife or girlfriend!
-
Hey Donna and team,
Yeah always loved this one. Strikes all the correct Beatles 'notes'. Well thought out lyrics rounded off by a great arrangement, performances and vocals.
Ray is a true Beatles enthusiast!!
Cheers
