Title: one bright spot - rock version
Post by: soulfrontier on September 16, 2013, 04:59:39 AM
This comes from Germany and was made as an online Collaboration outside MCS. Johnny asked me to post it here and here it is  :)
Asli is the mastermind behind this version. He had the idea and he played the guitars and bass. Gipfel played the drums, Poker was on slide guitar. Asli was also the mix master and LM18 made the master. Lyrics by Johnny A. Williams, vocals and music by soulfrontier.

Hope you will enjoy!

(vs)
I'm not a friend to everyone
Some folks take until you're done
I've lost races that I should'a won
But, I still run as hard as any son of a gun

(vs)
I play the cards that I've been dealt
Doing my best not to ask for help
I never follow everybody else
'cause I was taught to know thy-self

(lift)
Looking back at what I've got
at who I am, and who I'm not
Hard luck has been the fight I fought
But you're still my one bright spot

(Ch)
You're the one bright spot that lights my way
One bright spot turning night to day
You're a bright, white light in a raging storm
My one bright spot where the love is warm

(vs)
for poor folks life is a daily test
An everyday fight doin' more with less
measured by a world of big success
sometimes it ain't enough to do your best

(vs)
If I get caught in a down-ward spiral
It's never you putting my life on trial
Looking back, at all the up-hill miles
I'm still turned on when you flash a smile

(lift)
Looking back at what I've got
at who I am, and who I'm not
Hard luck has been the fight I fought
But you're still my one bright spot

(Ch)
You're the one bright spot that lights my way
One bright spot turning night to day
You're a bright, white light in a raging storm
My one bright spot where the love is warm

Thank You Holger

these are cross collaborations!

of a song we created here at MCS...

Asli, it sounds wonderful, an earworm, time machine tune,

Gipfel and Poker, really lovely work

Holger, i don't get over to the "finished forum" much, either

but then again

i don't think my musical opinions carry much weight  ;D

Personally, i like to watch the songs develop in studio A

thru the virtual window!

watching the artistic process is fascinating, to me

Asli, your mix sounds great, really lush and vibrant!

Holger, it's like wearing a triple crown! 8)

Cheers  :)

Very catchy track Holger - Always enjoy hearing your vocals around here and Steffen has mixed them well.

I am a little disappointed with the bottom end of the mix though, it sounds quite thin here.  I inserted a corrective EQ and it was much more enjoyable the 2nd time . I don't know whether it was the mix or master??

Hello CD,

thank you! Could you please upload it with the better EQing? I'm not able to hear the deep frequencies and therefore I cannot judge a mix.

Hey rightonthemark

thank you mate! :-)

Holger  - It was the Master that caused the problem, the original mix was fine  ::)

Great song!!

The other 2 versions are great too... but I prefer this one just a little bit more.

Well done (for all versions)!

thank you Frank! I love all the versions :-). At the moment a young man is working on a dub step version. To be honest I don't know what dub step is  ;D, but I'm looking forward to hear what he will come up with.

cheers

Yeah, I like the production. Those chorus harmonies are great, Holger. Love the guitar work and the rhythm section is fantastic.

My favourite version though is the original one you did with Steffen. It better captured the mood nicely with it's quirkiness.

Well done, Holgsy!
