10-4-2012 UPdate: Mixes by Benny and Paulo posted....both have additional keys by Paulo.

Reworked version of an original song I used to play live with the band I was in.

Some of my favourite MCS musicians are on it, lovely to have them on board. They never fail to take my music to a better level.

Special thanks to Mike (SnowdogUK) who did all the hard yards to sort out problems with the original bed and for geeing us along to complete this song. In addition to his super guitar parts, Mike was kind enough to supply a great mix.

Thanks again guys,  the track is rocking nicely 8)!!

I had just listened to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock & Roll" before I played this tune. Coincidence?

The song has a very nice 70s vibe. Well done, guys!

Hey Steffen,

Thanks for dropping and for the appreciation!!

Coincidence? No, it was ordained  ;D.

To be honest I havent listened to Bob Seger's tunes. Not my type of music I think, the songs seem to go on forever too, with one basic melody running throughout. But thats just personal taste I suppose.

I think he does have a couple of really great songs (Turn The Page, Still The Same, Against The Wind, Shame On The Moon - to name but a few). But you are right, many of his songs are indeed a bit repetitious.

I wouldn't complain if my songs sounded like his. 8)

As are all of Andy's tunes,.. this was another really interesting and fun song.

All submitted mixes are great,.. though I am partial to Benny's at the moment.

Thanks for having me MCS family.

Kick - ass tune boys   >:D  Quite different to your previous tunes Andy ?

Some great playing, on this - sounds real tight, like a proper band.

There's a real difference in the mixes.

Mikes sounds less aggressive and more retro

Paulo's has a nice depth at the bottom end that I feel is missing from Benny's which sounded a bit overcooked on the big monitors, but when I listened to them all on the little Mixcube in mono Benny's came across better .

I think it's because Benny's had a lot more midrange information and the missing low end doesn't matter on a small speaker but the lower mids give an impression of bass and the vocal came across well, whereas it sounded too low on Paulo's ( I think you had them panned wide Paulo which works in ok in stereo but not mono so much ). The small speaker really shines a different light on your mix decisions.  :o  I guess that's why I bought it.

The real trick is to find the balance between what sounds good on both Hifi and Lofi. Which is difficult but the pro mixers do it so well  ;D

CD
We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Hey Mark,

Really appreciate the insightful comments and the kind words re the song. The song was originally written around a bass riff. I do have different sorts of stuff on cassettes lying around. I'm trying to get them done properly one by one!! But it was nice to do a rocker!

Cheers

Nice tune guys. I wouldn't really call this retro. I think it has a modern sound that could be on any radio station. Well played and well mixed. Catchy tune.   8)

Wouldn't mind seeing some credits for this. I can't tell who's doing what. Who's singing?  ???
