This is a song that was started from PVD's cool lyrics. The other Misplaced Texans -- Doc, Andy & Stoney -- added their parts, and J and Docca3 made some major contributions.

It started off with my raunchy sounding rhythm guitar and vocal.

I told Stoney I wanted the drums to sound like the drummer was on the edge of loosing control and about to fall off his stool. Not hard for Stoney and he nailed it! These drums are killer.

Andy followed up with a nice tight bass line and Doc added an arpeggio guitar. And check out his wild wah-wah lead. Perfection.

AndyD jammed a killer guitar lead on the ending chorus that really fits beautifully against the vocal.

Finally, I asked J to see if he could add some keyboards. I just told him to play something like a "whooosh" here and a "bleep bloop" there. After that awesome direction, he couldn't miss. He came up piano, organ, bells, and synths to fill it out and put the icing on the cake.

This was fun and thanks everyone for working so hard on this one.

Paul Dempsey - lyrics
Ian Burrage - drums
Andy Gupta - bass
Henry (Doc) Mittnacht - arpeggio guitar, lead guitar
Jay Schankman - keyboards
Andrew Doherty - ending lead guitar
Benny Moore - vocals, rhythm guitar, mixing

WHITE LIES
Paul Dempsey/Benny Moore

(Verse)
I can't take your last hope
You've held it for so long
I can't wake your grief
Is it right or wrong

(Chorus)
So I'll hold you tight
Look into your eyes
Or even tell you what you need tonight
White lies

(Verse)
I can't give new tomorrows
Or take you back in time
Don't want to live your sadness
That your tears designed

(Chorus)
But I'll hold you tight
Look into your eyes
Or maybe tell you what you need tonight
White lies

(Bridge)
What can I say - what I can do
Is there a way to pull you through
And help you sleep that peaceful sleep
So that the morning light is yours to keep

(Verse)
I'll be there every minute
With a shoulder for your tears
I'll share every burden
Until they disappear

(Chorus)
And I'll hold you tight
Look into your eyes
And even tell you what you need tonight
White lies

Everyone:

It was fun watching this develop from my original lyrics, it works very well.

Thanks for letting me be involved, I did live in Dallas in the early 80's if that qualifies.  But basically a Jersey boy.

Benny thanks for working with me on the changes and your additions.

Paul

Vincent and Bill - thank you very much.

Paul - I knew when I read those lyrics that I had to put them to music. Thanks for not freaking out at all my editing! ;)

First off,... everyone's contributions are perfectly tuned in for this song!!

Benny:  Maybe it's my style of song,.. I don't know,... but this one gets played on my blackberry often as I'm driving to and from work.  This is a radio song all the way and you should be very proud of it.  This is just fantastic to my ears!!

Love it!

HDA - thank you for the high marks. Doesn't get any better than someone downloading your song and actually wanting to listen to it.

Steffen - thanks for the kind words.

J - your keyboards really made this tune shine. Are you game for doing another?

Stoney -  this is one of the best drum tracks in rock history!

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten
