Robert Goldbach is another guy over at 50/90 that I'll try to recruit here. He just finished this one today. Most of the songs at 50/90 are quickie recordings that may or may not get a full treatment after 50/90 ends in October... but this one's pretty good for a quickie recording. This was the first of two versions of this song.
Another Summer Come and Gone
©2017 Robert Goldbach/John Scunziano
Another summer come and gone
And less than thirty I recall
Just like the bridge in every song
As summer changes in to Fall...
I've come to learn the bitter truth
I'm not the boy I used to be
The days passed slowly in my youth
And now they're faded memories...
Summer days are just as long
But now I work 5 days a week
July and August - here and gone
And I just barely soaked my feet...
The last day of school, the shoes came off
And every summer, stubbed my toes
My money came from mowing lawns
And not a CENT was spent on clothes...
Now all my money goes for bills
I work to keep the things I own
The summer sunsets give me thrills
And come September, chill my bones...
Summer days are just as long
As summer days when I was young
Another singer sings his song
Another summer come and gone...

Very cool almost thought I was hearing a Berlin tune from the intro synth 80's vibe there.
Well written and enjoyable listen. For mix notes, I'm not sure if you compress the overall mix but a few thing like the lead vox and lead guitar don't seem to have that "glue" and sort of sit on top isolated if you know what I mean. Not a huge fan of telephone eq on vox mainly due to being overused for ages ago but that's a personal taste thing and overall maybe fits the retro style here. Very nicely done!

John - very cool. 1980's Berlin as Eric says.
Eric - I don't think John did the mix, he is mostly a lyricist (or anyway has been the years I have worked with him), I think there were some musicians involved here not on this site.
One minor things.. the 12 seconds of very quiet talking and messing about at the start is a bit disconcerting, it made me reach for the volume and whack it up, to then have my head blown off when the music came in proper!

haha - yes, you are correct George... my wife won't even let me mix cake batter. ::)
I went back and deleted those first 12 seconds, it was actually Robert repeating what I wrote in the liner notes and wasn't part of the lyrics.
