I finally got around to remixing this old song. The lyrics were sent to me by a lyricist/poet from Scotland. I wrote the music, and Tricia breathed life into it.
I never quite liked the synth drums in the old version, but it turned out that it was basically a mixing issue. I simply had no idea how to do a decent mix then. ;)
Here is the new one. I hope you enjoy it.
Vocals: Tricia Dovidio
Lyrics: Grant D. McLeman
Music, Mix & Master: Steffen Offermann

Nice melody :)
I would say these sound like sample drums rather than synth drums , I don't think they are too bad...the bass was more of an issue for me, sounded like a keyboard ?
I didn't hear the original mix but I am sure you improved it, it ended sooner than expected !

Thanks, Mark! Yes, the bass (and everything else except the vocals) is synthetic. I did not redo any of the original seps.
Synth drums and sampled drums is the same thing for me. ;) You are right, these are sampled drums.

Steffen

Some drum samples are impossible to distinguish from the real thing, but synth generated drums have a sound of their own and not meant to sound realistic. You can't beat an 808 kick on a dance track ;D

Very true, Mark. It's just that I play both on my synthesizer, so my personal term for it is "synth drums" in both cases. I'll try to be more precise in the future when I talk to others who cannot read my weird mind. :D

Steffen
