Title: Creatures Of The Night
Post by: Studioplayer on July 31, 2010, 07:13:11 PM
Finally got around to posting this. THANKS for all the help guys. I think this came out really great. Matter of fact I listen to it often in my car. One for the CD to come.  :) Fantastic words by Paul and TallPaul put his wonderful mysterious voice to this. Ken gave me solid drumming as usual and Billy really made it come alive with the keys. That solo is just great. One of my favourite parts.  :)

Again I really do love this song and I'm very happy with the results. THANKS again!!  8)

Dave

Lyrics - Paul Dempsey (PVD)
Vocals - Paul T. Bathen (TallPaul)
Guitars,Bass & Mix - David Patterson (Studioplayer)
Keys & Pads - Billy Playle (Billy)
Drums - Ken Grover (Groverk)

Creatures of the Night

(v1)
The sounds of the night
Race through my head
With every heartbeat
The loneliness spreads
Lying here so helpless
My eyes refuse to close
That's the way it's gotta be
I suppose

(v2)
I still hold your pillow
Feel you, smell your scent
Lying here wondering
Where you went
You were so unhappy
And I just wasn't listening
What a fool I have been

(chorus)
Now I'm cussed at night
Dealing with these feelings
Watching the shadows
Slipping cross the ceiling

(v3)
Every breath I take
The echoes amplify
This room's beyond empty
Without you by my side
No light allowed in
It's like a black hole
When you left me
You took my soul

(pre chorus)
Yes you took my soul
You're a creature of the night
And you stole my soul.

(chorus)
Now I'm cursed at night
Dealing with these feelings
Watching the shadows
Slipping cross the ceiling

(v4)
I'll keep on searching
For where my light has gone
Why it all faded out
The day you've moved on
But maybe if I'm lucky
There'll be a full moon
And you'll come back to me
Lord I hope soon ....

Baby I need you so

(chorus)
Now I'm cursed at night
Dealing with these feelings
Watching the shadows
Slipping cross the ceiling

(Piano Solo)

(chorus)
Now I'm cursed at night
Dealing with these feelings
Watching the shadows
Slipping cross the ceiling

(outro)
Love, wherever you are
Feel my pain
Love, wherever you are
Feel my pain

Hey Dave:

As I mentioned to you, I too was listening to this in the car and really enjoyed it.  Thanks for letting me be involved and thank everyone for their contribution.

Another great example of what takes place here on a daily basis, it is so much fun to be involved and have the exposure here that actually produces a finished product you can be proud of.

Tall Paul, your vocals were great here.

Paul

Very nice guys, but what would you expect from my favorite vocalist, favorite lyricist, and favorite Senior Citizen(Dave) ;D ;D

Seriously, sounds great. 8)
I don't believe I met Billy and Ken yet, but this song is a nice introduction to their talents. 8) 8)

Great work everyone,

John

You guys are great. That's Paul singing? I wouldn't have recognized him. A very versatile guy, isn't he?

Great guitar playing too! Great everything. :)

Regards,
  Steffen

Thanks for the comments guys and I appreciate the listen.  :)

Nitch.. I believe that was my Tele with a PODx3. The amp was the '2001 Diamond Plate' with about 40% drive, 4/12 cab, a bit of delay and a bit of reverb. I rarely use distortion. Usually an amp with the overdrive is my preference.  :)

Guys,

This sounds so 'moody' cool!!

Great lyrics and music that matches them perfectly!!

Nice performances love the guitar and keys sound specially. Its got a very 70s vibe to it.

Thanks for listening Paulo & Andy.  :) Yeah... Billy plays some mean keys. I love a piano solo.  8)

I should have gotten you to play the bass Andy. I tend to put down bass as I'm writing and often end up leaving it but I should post a bassless more often. I'm sure you low end guys could do better.  :)

Hey Dave,

I would love to play bass on a tune of yours, but usually you come up with pretty solid bass lines - I am not sure I can top that:)

Cheers

Yeah but half the fun is having other players on the tracks. I think I have at least a couple dozen songs now with different vocalists, drummers etc. It's pretty cool.  8)
