Title: GINA (cha cha cha)
Post by: Mimmo on August 12, 2010, 01:51:48 PM
Here goes another great collaboration.
Thanks to all of you guys.
Hope you all enjoy

Lyrics:                    John Scunziano    (Mr. Mom)
Music and Vocals:     Domenic Mercurio (Mimmo)
Bass:                      Matt Lewin          (Hazz)
Guitars:                   Dave Patterson    (Studioplayer)
Additional instruments, final arrangement,
Mixing and Mastering: Billy Playle

              GINA
As she glides across the floor
Moving ever so softly
All the people stop and stare
When Gina starts dancing
A thousand moves, and the wings...
The wings of an Angel
How can a common man
Dance with such a real beauty

Gina lights up the room
every time she goes dancing
Leaves all of the younger men
with dreams of romancing
As she takes to the floor
She is so lonely
Wonders where is the man
Who will ask her to dance

Gina feels like a dancing Queen
Yet the young men all fear her
They're to shy to make a scene
So they never go near her
Every night she goes home
So sad and lonely
She brings people much joy
But has none for herself

Gina lights up the room
every time she goes dancing
Leaves all of the younger men
with dreams of romancing
As she takes to the floor
She is so lonely
Wonders where is the man
Who will ask her to dance

Her smile will melt your heart
Yet her eyes show such sadness
And alone in a crowded room
She must deal with the madness

Gina lights up the room
every time she goes dancing
Leaves all of the younger men
with dreams of romancing
As she takes to the floor
She is so lonely
Wonders where is the man
Who will ask her to dance

Very nice tune, guys... Very Latin sounding  ;)

Thank you Mimmo, Hazz, Dave, and Billy for a surprisingly smooth collaboration. I've only been here since the end of May, and was wondering which collaboration I'm a part of would actually make it to the Finished Stage first. I can honestly say that I got the easy part in all this - only supplying words - but since I was a part of this baby, and as it is my first OFFICIAL baby - I'm passing out cigars to everyone!! 8) 8)

Latin? I thought I was working on a rock song?  ??? Boy... did I get lost.  :D ;D

Thanks for the fun guys. It's really nice to try something different for a change and it really is a nice song to listen too. I think it turned out quite well. Great job everyone!!  8) 8) 8)

Thanks guys, thanks Mimmo and Holger - I didn't want to jinx whichever collab was going to be first. In the little time I've been here, I see that sometimes a song is 95% finished and gets "forgotten". Then there are songs like this, where everything just fell into place and we cruised to the finish line. 8)

Thanks Tricia and Mike,
This all started as a nice little tune by Mimmo, which began to develop its own personality with the addition of each new collaborator. It was nice being one of the pieces of the puzzle.

Nice song. The vocal mix is perfect for this kind of music - and so is Mimmo's voice.

Congratulations to your first (or second?) collaboration at MCS, John!

Wish us luck :)
Mimmo and I have restructured the lyrics for this song, as a tribute to the Ellen Degeneres Show, and will soon be submitting one or both of the following videos:

;D ;D ;D That's friggin hilarious!! I hate to say it but I'm a closet Ellen fan. She's such a goof ball. I watch her show when I can. She's one of the few talk show hosts that I like.  :)

Both are good. You should have one the goes from Mimmo to clips of her on the show dancing.  :) Great idea!!  8)  :D  ;D

Nice to see Mimmo singing. I like seeing a face to the collaboraters here. You should post those in their own thread where they might get seen.

Hey Dave, you would have loved the version where I had an animated "Dave" playing the solo part alongside Mimmo, but twice when I was working with Muvizu my PC shutdown and I lost all my work - so I went with the current "more simplified" version, which still works well. 8)

Thanks Errol, and I think we all agree it was nice to see Mimmo in a live setting.

Whenever you want the videos set for public viewing, let me know Mimmo, and I'll change the setting on them. :)

I don't Know...if they're done  go for it.
Do you have to do anything so the people from the show will find them?

OK Mimmo,
I submitted the animated link at the show's website, and mentioned the 2nd link in the comment section. Maybe you should do the same - more is better, right? ;)

Hi Mimmo,
On this first link, you should submit the animated video:

http://ellen.warnerbros.com/show/respond/?PlugID=15

On this link, you can send the video you sent me, plus a photo, plus the link of you singing on youtube.

http://ellen.warnerbros.com/eleveneleven/?adid=menu_music

Keeping my fingers crossed :)
