Yaaa.. Finally done.  :)  After much work and even more mixing we can call this done. Gotta thank you guys for putting such a great effort into this song and making it a very fun collab to do. In the top 10 for replies by thread. A lot of chatter!  :D It was necessary though to get this final mix out. It came out super nice thanks to Mark's mixing abilities & Todd warming things up through his distressor. I really don't think we could possibly get it much better than this. Fantastic vocals, sweet keys, fat bass, thunderous drums and some really nice lead guitar. Add some mixing magic and you have a great formula for success.  8)

It was a lot fun guys. Lets do more.   >:D

Ape of the final mix below as well.  :)

Vocals & Lyrics by Josh Tanasz (Severing)
Original Music & Rhythm Guitars by David Patterson (Studioplayer)
Rhythm & Lead Guitar by Mark Hawkins (Mystery Guitar Player)
Keys by Paulo Gomes (Paulo)
Bass by Mike McKinnon (Musobass)
Drums & Mastering by Todd Vierra (Thunder)
Mix & Master by Mark Morgon-Shaw (CosmicDolphin)

New Light

Did you have a plan to change me
A way to save me from myself
With your words like wine

Making plans and dreams with you
Although they never would come true
I didn't notice half the time
I'm running again on fire, into the unknown
You can laugh now but you'll cry later when your hearts a stone

Now you're gonna write down your sobbing words in the terrible light
Beg for forgiveness curse that dreaded hindsight
And kiss them goodbye
Write down the reason and why they shouldn't go
It's only your fault they'd be better off you know
To see you in a new light
To see you in a new light
To see you in a new light

Don't you read this to me
Won't you stay another night
I'm drunk off your sweats like wine

The bitter taste of truth you see
Is that you were right in time you were a way
To save me from myself
Surely time will break us all
And sooner or later you'll wind up on your own

Now you're gonna write down your sobbing words in the terrible light
Beg for forgiveness curse that dreaded hindsight
And kiss them goodbye
Write down the reason and why they shouldn't go
It's only your fault they'd be better off you know
To see you in a new light
To see you in a new light
To see you in a new light

Way to go boys....really knocked this one outta the park !  >:D  >:D  >:D

I remember hearing Dave's bed track with the vocals for the first time and thinking how cool it sounded with Severing's vocals. Piece by piece it all came together, everyone's  parts were top notch so I couldn't just let it pass without taking a shot at improving on Dave's rough mixes.

Some of you may know I've been studying the past few months to improve my mixing chops , and this was a tough one but I think we nailed it after tearing down the first mix and starting over and understanding where the first mix was lacking  ;D  Feel like I've learned a lot from this that I can carry forward into other mixes and the extra studying and sorting my acoustics out has paid off.

I love the song even though I've heard tons of times whilst mixing, think it's up there with the best stuff I've been involved with at MCS and the banter on the thread was a whole lotta fun  :P

Here's to the next one  8)

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Live the best you can 'cause you're gonna be dead for a long time.

Thanks guys. The keys were awesome Paulo. With all that's going on in this mix it's amazing the keys didn't get too buried in there.

Yeah Mark, restarting the mix from scratch was a great idea. Sounds a hell of a lot better than those first intial mixes. Pretty happy with this tune. Then again I'm pretty happy with every tune that comes out of this place. It's all because of the proffesional attitude of the people here. Doing the best we can. That's all you can ask for.  8)

I've never been in a studio before (like that really surprises anyone - lol) but the professionalism you guys show on this track would make any studio reps jealous.

This is very impressive. I gotta say, I love the vocals. Really adds a strange rocky edge to the lyrics. Congrats to all involved. Excellent!

Billy.
