Post by: stoman on January 16, 2016, 03:19:30 AM
EMOTION

Lyrics & Vocal Guide: Kim Noble
Vocals: Sucheta Sanyal
Saxophone: Anthony Cook
Bass: Alberto P.
Drums: Robert Cudmore
Original Music, Mix & Master: Steffen Offermann

She was small town country used to life at an easy pace.
He was big city lovin’; fancy cars and a leather briefcase.
They would meet in the middle; a business trip and a girl’s night out.
Dance every slow dance they could as the sweet night air swirled about.

An impossible situation with only one life to live.
It was more than infatuation but true love they wanted to give.
Trying hard to forget they lived their lives in complete separation.
Moments spent each night they could surrounding themselves with true love and Emotion.

Now she’s back to small town life feeling sad and all alone.
He’s returned from his business trip and can’t stop wanting to call her phone.
But he’s afraid that he’ll lose his life; independence and fancy cars.
She can’t deal with the heartache; of will this work or be just another shooting star?

Sometimes life deals you cards that force you to choose.
You want what you cannot have; your cake and eat it too.
The simple effect is this, you’ve got to make a decision.
Do you want the easy way out or step into true love and Emotion?

:) nice song Steffen! I would like to hear a version with Kim too  ;)  Seems to me that the lyrics are hard to fit in the lines here and there.

I agree, a nice enough song. I can actually hear Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music) doing this.

The lead melody is well formed with a lovely vocal performance and the instrumentation is well put together.

The mix is very good. I like the way you panned the sax as to let the vocal breathe. There is a little distortion somewhere....maybe the piano?

Another one of your little Gems, Steffan.

sounds good.
has a warmth to it that reminds me of something but can't really place it.
but feels/sounds like a classic - especially in the beginning as the song is building.
nice job.

Thanks, Holger, Billy & Mark!

Roxy Music - that's an interesting association. Yes, there is a lot of distortion on some of the tracks to make them cut through the mix a little better, and also for the vintage vibe. But there is also some unintended distortion on the sax sep that I cannot quite get rid of. I faded out the sax early at the end because of that issue.
