Title: Sometimes (Slow Blues) (Frank Zax/Andy Gupta/Mr Mom/Billy Playle/Jay Schankman)
Post by: AndyG6508 on December 02, 2020, 02:27:39 PM
How....
How...
How do I describe adequately the musical genius  that is Mr. Frank Zax :)

Frank took a barebones idea and cooked up this simmering slow blues with delicious dollops of scintillating guitar playing  (no surprise there) and heartfelt vocals.

Mr. Mom worked up his lyrical blues chops and served up an poignant lyric. "We are in this together" never seemed so trite, cliched and hollow.

Billy and Jay served up contrasting, but equally effective,  hammond organ parts  that complemented the guitar led arrangement  perfectly.

Two mixes, one with Billy's keys version and other with J's contribution are posted here.

Sometimes (Frank Zax/Andy Gupta/John Scunziano) (c) 2020

V1
Sometimes… you think you’re all alone…
In fact, you’re… positive…
When the day, only reaches halfway
You’ve taken all that life will give
In a blink you think twice, and you put down the knife
As you reach for a sedative…
You wonder if you should live… (repeat)

Break: Am Dm Am
V2
Sometimes… your friends are not too friendly
In fact, you’re… really sure…
Every call that you made, goes on unanswered
How much more can you endure
With a roll of the dice, you decide, not the knife
So the pills are the likely cure…
And you have been here before… yeah

Ch
Lonely days are a constant companion
The only friend who’s always there…
Lonely daze, in a maze of confusion
Your soul is bruised beyond repair…
Livin’ life on the edge of abandon
Where darkness is the standard fare………………..

Where…….
Where………
Where………

Solo - Sung over solo:
Am
Where do I find the answers
Where do I even ask
Dm
Oh oh ohhhh
Oh where do I
Am
Em/Dm/Am/Em
Solo-2 Am/Dm/Am/Em/Dm/Am/C/?/?

Lonely days are a constant companion
The only friend who’s always there…
Lonely daze, in a maze of confusion
Your soul is bruised beyond repair…
Livin’ life on the edge of abandon
Where darkness is the standard fare….

Am
Sometimes I think life is worth living…
But mostly I don’t seem to care…
