Title: fade into the night (Kim and Holger)
Post by: soulfrontier on March 23, 2016, 09:07:32 AM
Hello MCS!

It's been a while!  ;) But here is a brandnew song that I wrote around Kims wonderful vocals. That was a challenge! Thank you Kim for the chance to play around with your vocals.

Here is the result. It was my entry for a remix contest at recording.de

vocals/ vocal melody and lyrics             Kim Noble
music, all instruments, Rap Part  ;D
Mix, Master                                        soulfrontier

Stepped in it over my head
And I felt it coming but ignored it instead.
Slowly caught up with me
And now all I do is watch you leave.

Running around, chasin’ the night
And I thought you were done
But you just ran out of time.
Back and forth with your restless dreams.
I could never do what you do, I’d just run out of steam…

And Fade Into the Night.

Rap Part:
You saw it coming, you say you saw the sign
but if you think that time's running
Baby running is just fine.
If the fire is still burning,
if the mountains are still high
all I need is your tenderness
I know that we can fly.

Forget everything you heard.
Whatever you’ve wanted and always yearned.
Life happens way too fast
At the speed of lightening and the thunder clash.
Running around, chasin’ the night
And I thought you were done
But you just ran out of time.
Back and forth with your restless dreams.
I could never do what you do, I’d just run out of steam…

And Fade Into the Night.

fade into the night....fade into the night

I hope you'll enjoy it!

 :)

Holgsy - you little trickster.  ;D

Starting the song like that.  >:D

I love it! Kim's sounding really groovy here. You've mixed her voice really well. The music and production is great. I wasn't expecting that.....excellent!

 Hey Billy mate!  :)

Thank you, glad that you liked it. I felt in love with Kim's vocals from the first moment I heard her voice  :)

The intro... ;D some people told me that the first 6 sec are the best part of this song. I don't think so ;D

I agree with everything Billy said. You did a great job with this Holger! All us us who have worked with Kim over at Kompoz already know how versatile she is. :) :)

Holger! Is that you?  :o :)

That's definitely not the type of music I would have expected from you. :)

Very interesting, and IMO very well done too. I did not pay much attention to the contest at recording.de - which position did you land at?

And how long did you work on this?

Thank you Steffen! :-)

I know that no-one would expect such music from me. But that was one reason because I had so much fun with it!
And I learned a lot, tried out new things, new instruments, new plug-ins, I even tried a kind of Rap for the first time in my life.
Yes Steffen, it's all my own ideas and work, except Kim's excellent vocals. If course, I had to melodyne the vocals, in some parts extremely :-D but that's part of the game.

I worked countless ours on it, it took me 3 weeks. Most of the time for mixing and mastering. My ears are not that good but I had to do it all myself.

I'm really happy with the result and Kim wrote me too that she loves my version

In the end I was place 16 of 23. And I got mostly unfriendly comments for it.

Therefore I really appreciate your comments guys! It's like sunshine after rain  ;D

Stupid Germans! Who cares what they say? :D

Seriously, Holger, I think you did a very good job here, and I can fathom that it must have been A LOT of work.

this is pretty cool.
reminds me a bit of don't you want me by the human league - but better.
a bit of an 80s feel to me - but modernized enough to make it sound fresh.
nice one.

Really cool Holger,
It`s hard to work alone, I can appreciate it when I hear it done.
Love the harmonies and both your vocals.
