Title: Simple
Post by: CosmicDolphin on February 01, 2009, 04:08:45 PM
I'm pleased to be able to announce this song finished  :)

This one has been hanging around for 5 or 6 years now...the original was in Sonar 2  ;D

It's one of those songs where I could never arrange it the way I heard it in my head for it until I joined the MC....big thanks to all those who chipped in. I think it came out rather well.  Don't worry, after this it'll be back to the up tempo guitar synth pop rock songs  >:D

Credit

Words - Music - Synths - Vocals -Mix   CosmicDolphin

Drums - Todd Thunder

Guitars- PleasureDome & Studioplayer

Piano  - Lindy

Strings- PaulD

BV's    - Ali Kat

Simple

It's simple, so simple
You own me
Is that simple enough
When you finally prevail and I just need to inhale so deeply
It's blameless, disruptive
So shameless yet destructive
And you know I'll never win
'Cause they'll say it's such a sin to want you

Chorus

But you're giving me some hope
That I'm found
You know you got me turning around
And when it finally all calms down
You know just what to do

Verse 2

You lead and I'll follow
This love feels so hollow
I need you to make whole
Then I'd feel I've got control of something

It's taking , Without giving
It's like life but without living
And I know that it's a crime but I'd gladly do the time to have you....

RPT Chorus

Mid 8

And anway the world is falling

In every way , you hear me calling out to you

I'll let it out for you

'Cause it's so simple

Key Change - RPT Chorus  x 2

Ending

Givin' me some ho-pe , ho-ope , ho-pe

You give me ho-ope , ho-ope , ho-ope

You give me ho-ope , ho-ope , ho-ope

That I'm found

That I'm found

Crazy tune brother. You add so much it's nuts.  :D I think it came out pretty fine in the end. Glad you were mixing it. I would get totally lost on something like this. Nice one CD !!  8)

Hi Mark,

No one does this kind of "brit pop" better than you.

Brilliant melody - interesting arrangement too- kind of London Suede at times perhaps?

Cheers

Super catchy heavenly pop tune Mark..you're the master on these....especially considering most start out with you plunking on your acoustic and mutate into a big production like this..just knowing in your head what you want (while you're initially plunking on the gtr) is a real talent...obviously alot of behind the scenes direction in this one I'm sure! ;D ;D ;D
Great job here..obviously a ton of work (and a ton of time)went into this! :)

Very nice, Mark! Great vision for the song, I love the whole production. Note, you have quite a bit of silence on the end of the track (I know, it's for the dogs right? :) ).

Just saying thank you for the Page 5 songs that I enjoyed last week.
This is one of the best in the bunch.

I love the mysterious entrance and the grand anthem like ending.
What really pulled me in the first time I listened was Ali's backgrounds in the first verse. If you haven't checked that out on headphones yet, do it now! So understated but incredibly powerful. Nice.

Great song and production, Mr Chambers.
This one should have been on one of Mr Williams albums.
Would have made him real famous... USA included  ;)

Lol

I just found my original version of this.  Woah..used alot of synths back then ( 2006 I think )

I think the only thing I kept was the vocals and the synth bass.  I think most of the guitars were various samples I'd tried to string together.

Quite interesting if you're used to the definitive MCS version   >:D

Goes to show how much the guys here brought to it.

Title: Re: Simple
Post by: Paulo on December 11, 2011, 04:16:23 AM
Yeh, cool 80's synths I recognize most of those sounds as I has most of the famous synths in the 80's
Title: Re: Simple
Post by: CosmicDolphin on December 11, 2011, 05:41:13 AM
Well I think I still had all my synths at that time but I don't remember the exact ones I used - but I had a Roland MC303 Groovebox, a Casio CZ1000 , a Yamaha SY35, a little Zoom sampler and I had FM7 & Pro 52 soft synths - maybe Xphraze...can't remember if I had it at this time.  I would have used the same gear for ' Crawling ' that you commmented on too.

Cool stuff... I still have a Yamaha TG77 wich is the module for the SY77... Nice stuff... Those SY series were nice... And still have a DX11, bought it in 1987 and never sold it, great hardware unit, everything is working except for the battery that feeds the presets, lol.

This is one of my favorites of yours CD. It's interesting to hear how the original was more mysterious sounding. This is a great melody no matter how it's done.

The Synth version is the original, it pre-dates the MCs version. Listening again I think I did re-sing it.
