Leave Your Mind At The Door

(v1)
Your PhD in astrophysics
Makes the universe your oyster
But women are a mystery
It's like you grew up in a cloister
Your hero is Pythagoras
That mathematical Greek
And scholars cluster round
To listen when you speak

Pre-chorus
You're as bright as Einstein
Write like Marcel Proust
But your silhouette in jeans
Inspires me the most

Chorus
Conversation's such a bore
It takes up too much time
I've got something else in store
So when I ask you round to dine
Bring your body and French wine
But leave your mind at the door

(v2)
Well I can take or leave Camus
Much too existential
If I'm here alone with you
I'd rather get down to essentials
Put physical back into physics
Turn astro back into stars
They'll explode on impact
When my Venus meets your Mars

Pre-chorus
You're as bright as Einstein
Write like Marcel Proust
But your silhouette in jeans
Inspires me the most

Chorus
Conversation's such a bore
It takes up too much time
I've got something else in store
So when I ask you round to dine
Bring your body and French wine
But leave your mind at the door

Solo

Pre-chorus
You're as bright as Einstein
Write like Marcel Proust
But your silhouette in jeans
Inspires me the most

Chorus
Conversation's such a bore
This girl wants something more
Here's a thought you can't ignore
Kiss me...
Bring your body and French wine
But leave your mind at the door

Hi,

Great job by everyone involved. Intelligent lyrics, very cool yet sultry singing!:).

Smokey nightclub, spotlight on the girl singer (Cameron Diaz in the Mask at the Coco Bongo:), with a very sharp/smooth band backing her up (guys in the band in ties and jackets and slicked back hair).

Originally I thought the chorus needed brassing up, but listening to this version, I think it works very well throughout!!

Cool!

Bloody hell!!  :o

You don't have to read between the lines here do you!! You ladies are so naughty.  >:D

There's a similar song done by Shania Twain called 'That don't impress me much'...I think that's the title?

Donna's lyrics are very clever and Anne's voice always grabs your attention. The music is great and it all adds up to a fine song.

Billy.

It's a pleasure to work with Anne and Donna on this (as well as John and Marc!) :)  If I recall correctly, we went through five rewrites on the music before we found the right groove to fit Donna's lyrics, which, happily, did not have to be rewritten at all! ;)

Andy, Billy, Holger, and Nick, thank you! :)  So pleased you enjoyed this deliciously naughty song.  ;D

That's right, Rob. Five rewrites. Your tenacity was staggering.  ;D
Marc, I hope we'll have at least one or two more along these lines (e.g., jazz/blues/alternative vibes).  ;)

Just had a listen, loved it.  :) From the progressive funky bass and drums to the crisp clean guitar. The very seductive vocals remind me of Alana Myles ( Black Velvet ) and as always a well crafted lyric.  8)

More of this please  ;)
