Title: Improvisation - old style fusion
Post by: napoleonboot on June 14, 2009, 06:37:22 PM
just me jamming over a backing track, which put me in mind of some of Jeff Beck's music from the 1970's.

Not much collaborating going on here  :o, but I enjoyed playing it, and was fairly pleased with the outcome, so I thought I'd share it.

Haven't listened to my Jeff Beck in prolly 25 years... *(my needle broke)... Thats what I get for buying albums just as the Cassette player was making a showing.....  :-[

This reminds me of stuff form either his Blow-By-Blow or Wired (ALBUMs)...

I always liked Blue Wind and Lead Boots from those albums.. Absoloutely KILLER music..

You've done a wonderful job here.. LOVE the Wah and the leads have Fantastic tones.. (the Playing's GREAT!) Bro!!!!

My opening three chords were from Jeff's intro to Led Boots (although played in a different order and key!).

J you're right man. How about you me and Jwoo give it a whirl?

I'll have some ideas I could put together as a starting point.

While we are mentioning fond memories, then besides Jeff Beck, here are a selection of my big influences from the same era, do you dig them?

weather report - birdland:

Al Di Meola - Race With The Devil:

Chick Corea - La Fiesta

George Duke with Billy Cobham - Rush Hour

Stanley Clarke - "schooldays"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0YNehAz7FY

Miles Davis - Something's On Your Mind

and back when the whole world was in black-and-white, Dave Brubeck - Take Five:

I can hear a Jeff Beck version of Birdland in my head trying to get out.
