This is a rather strange track developed from an old demo of mine ... the guys have developed this beyond anything I could have expected. Billy's horn section is superb .... Andy came up with a fabulous blue grass bass shape (very strange) and what can I say about J's wild honky tonk piano ....it was just made for a Jerry Lee Lewis style video performance.
The lyric idea is rather old now but I guess still very relevent ... it is basically an anti corruption/extremism rant ... not aimed at any specific political party or religion but generally about the kind of story we see every day on the news.
Guitars/Horns -Billy Playle
Bass/Backing vox- Andy Gupta
Keys - Jay Schankman
Drums/Vocals/Music/Production - Ian Burrage
Band Promotion - Casia
If You Know What To Believe ( Burrage )
Verse 1
Hey look another sacred cow
They're all around me now
Up the stairs and down the hall
There's no escape at all
Ch
Jokers to the left
Jokers to the right
A central path is what I'm taking
A little long but fascinating............If you know what to believe
Verse 2
Hey look another bogus priest
Check him out there's nothing underneath
Give him money make him smile
Come to god and go in style
Verse 3
Hey look another holy war
Is this one worth fighting for
Kill yourself & prove them right
Politics is god tonight

LOL ;D ;D just when I thought Stoney couldn't get any stranger.....another one added to the canon.
Great song Stoney!!, and thanks for letting us rip looose on this one.
It was a challenge to come up with something interesting bass-wise, but with super performances from everyone - this track really took off.
Many stars - Stoney's lyric/vocal, Billy's horn lines and lastly a stunning piano solo from a "whole lotta Jay Schankman".
I am sure Daisy approves too!!
Cheers
Andy

I had no idea what I was about to listen to. Holy smoke! That was quite entertaining.
Great sound all the way around Stoney.

Wow, guys, this is simply PERFECT! So this is how it sounds when real musicians make music. ;)
Ian, I love your songwriting. And I had no idea that you can do such great vocals.
Regards,
Steffen

;D I've been following this for a while guys.
Ian: I can't tell you Ian how impressed I am by pretty much everything you lay your fingers on. Always signature Stoney!
J:All your patches and "shapes" fit perfectly for this,.. I can't imagine hearing this song without them,.. awesome work.
Andy: fitting in nicely everywhere in this song,.. just as a great bassist should (not to mentions some really nice lines)!
Billy: Show me a song that you stink in and I'll call ya a lier ;D Perfect as always!
I loooooove this shit!! >:D
P.S. I just woke up a little while ago,.. slightly dazed,.. and started listening to this on my headphones,.. and the whole mix was on the left,...and I'm like,.. wow stoney you posted a crap mix,.. probably by accident of course,... and then,.... I ,.... pushed my plug all the way in ::) :P :D >:D
-
Hey Jay
Thanks for taking the time to listen and the great comments ...it is much appreciated as always
A totally LEFT mix ........mmmmmmmm..... and maybe if I did that and then posted the totally RIGHT mix next week I could maximize the separation LOLOLOLOL
Cheers Ian

maybe we can release the left channel as a free download, and then charge $.99 for the right channel? something to think about. Ok, that's what happens when I think. :D
really fun song we have here, I smile every time I listen.. good stuff, and glad to be a part of this.. thank you guys for making it easy.. tight performance as always, and great mix.
also, thank you guys for your comments.. it's all about trying to pull off what your audience would expect to hear, with maybe a surprise or two along the way. It means a lot more coming from accomplished players. :)

This is fantastic, I love this. I'm proud that it will be on an album that I am a part of. I will promote this one to the best of my ability guys....where's the video? I have a deal for $29.95 where I can get you on Canadian Music TV which will be aired Friday nights and Saturday morning (2:00 a.m.) on ShopTV and three cable companies in Greater Toronto and South Central Ontario reaching 1.5 million homes. People will be encouraged to purchase the video and we'll receive 60% of proceeds. I'm looking for a better deal as well if I can get "x" number of artists interested, I must contact them again.
Snap to it lol!

Hi Cas
Really glad you feel like that about our project ...cool
I would be quite happy to put a vid together if everyone is happy about supplying clips of themselves playing along with the backing track.... I think we should do it

I'll get this loaded up onto some our sites as soon as I can. My problem at the moment is I can't test whether it works or not as I don't have flashplayer....must get it soon!

now I'm wondering if Mike has a cow suit I can borrow :) I still think the vintage cartoonage I sent would work great for the JLL part..
Cas, if you are looking for a stand alone .flv player this works well: http://download.cnet.com/FLV-Player/3000-13632_4-10467081.html

Hey J
The cow suit would be very cool LOL ....... The clips you sent would be very good but we have to be careful of copyright and animation is very traceable..... if you can just get shots of your hands I'm sure I can get creative.
Ideally it would be great to get each of us against a plain background but I will take whatever I can get from you guys and I will get something interesting going
Cheers Ian

jay,
cow suit would be fab, dont forget to wear a bell!! and brylcreem in your hair!
for the JLL part we simply must have you knocking the piano bench over and running your elbows over the keys a la John Lennon in "IM Down" - the Beatles Shea Stadium. YOU must also put your foot up on the keys at some point, preferable with boots with cuban heels. you may set fire to the piano but we can leave it as an option :)
there!simple huh?
