Long story short, a friend of mine (Mike Peters ,.. not a site member) has recorded this song in 2 different genres prior. He was never happy with the outcome. About a month ago he asked me if I could help with it. I completely rewrote the music and asked Billy Playle to produce the track. As expected, Billy knocked it out of the park. I was so happy with this version I asked Billy to do a second version and had Todd sing. Hope you enjoy.
I'll Stop Caring Now
Lyrics - Mike Peters
All Instrumentation/Production - Billy Playle
Music/Vocals/Piano for Version 1 - HDA (Jay Lamothe)
Lead Vocals for Version 2 - Todd Swain
CHORUS
So I guess I'll stop caring now
and just pretend you don't matter to me
Try to move on, forget what we had, set myself free
I guess I'll stop caring now
and put you back on the shelf in my heart
Take a new step, without you somehow, so I guess, I'll just stop
Caring now
V1
I know we agreed, it was over
And forever, good friends we'd stay
But I'm torn, with what was, and what should be
And I torture myself, everyday
CHORUS
V2
You gave me a world, like no other
Something my heart, needed so
But I've realized, that you deserve, so much better
And that's why, that is why, I'm letting you go

Thanks Donna,.. I think its that I have become alot more comfortable with the DAW/MIC/PLUGGINS that I now use. I spend almost no time with settings and can concentrate more on singing.

Hey Mimmo,.. ya your about 50 mins away from me! You have been sharing our unpredictable weather. I took advantage of the sun yesterday and ended up at a beach not far from my place (that I didn't really know about until last week,.. Pinehurst Lake,.. not bad!)
Thanks for the comments. I have Todd working out some vocals on version 2. Can't wait to hear it!

Oh you smooth lounge lizards!!
Wonderful performances by everyone!
Where's the video??
Nightclub backdrop, low lights, and the band in white jackets and slicked back hair!

Thanks but I can only take credit for throwing vocals on Billy's already fantastic mix.

I was just doing some work on my computer and this tune came up and started playing and I thought I recognized it as having come from here.
Just wanted to pop in to congratulate everyone on it. Both versions are great. I'm not sure why but the lyrics are triggering something in me that takes me back 20 years or so. I usually don't react that much to lyrics/singing so this tune has something special.
Love the fretless bass and the slinky guitar fills.
Billy, how do you do all this stuff? Can I get lessons? :)
-
WoW! :o Everything sounds fantastic!! 8)
Great vox Todd! Just figured out there were 2 versions!
Both are totally KILLER!!
How bout a 3rd version with Jay and Todd doing different verses and chorus in same version?
:)
-
Both versions are superb guys ...great vocals playing and production....top notch stuff

I just listened to both versions:
Billy: Outstanding on each and every instrument!
Jay: You took this into every bar and club around the world but...
Todd: YOU take this one to Vegas!
Beautiful!

Hi Jay,
Excellent work here men. :)
I much preferred Ver 2. I felt that the easy flow of music matched the mood of the song much better.
The first time I played it though, I was trying to figure out what was unsettling me on the first verse.
At first I thought it might be the phrasing, but after I played it several more times I found the culprit. >:( (IMHO).
Just before the 2nd line is delivered "And forever, good friends we'd stay" (1:16 - 1:17) the Bass glide timing bothered me.
Maybe it's not needed or perhaps you might try starting the glide earlier so that the Ab is heard on the downbeat.
Btw, this goes for the same place in the 2nd verse.
Other than that, the music and lyrics fit wonderfully together.
The Chorus with it's Hooks is very memorable.
And the musicianship, arrangement and production are top notch and very professional. 8)
Are you thinking about sending this out as a Demo to any particular performer?
I could easily see Blake Shelton making a hit with it.
Once again, great work by those MCS collaborators.
Good luck with it.
Ciao, Dan

Hey Guys,.. thanks for all the comments. Very appreciated. I sort of forgot about this one.
Danny: I just do this for shits and giggles. The guy that wrote the lyrics I'm sure will shop it. That's more his thing.
