Title: Gemini Girl- Rock/Pop
Post by: CosmicDolphin on August 20, 2009, 03:56:21 PM
Been a while since I finished anything , but I've been beavering away in the background and I'm happy to announce my latest finished song.

Once again you guys have done me proud , it's been a fairly long collab ( 5 months ) ...quite alot of differnt people joining in , so quite a project to manage but well worth the wait.  Thanks to all the fantastic musicians below who helped me make this into what it is, I'm very happy with the final product  :)   I owe you all one !

I wrote it for my wife , who is a Gemini  ;)

Music - Lyrics - Lead Vox - Mix & Master :  CosmicDolphin

Drums       : Tmix Tom

Guitars      : Rattlehead - Pleasuredome - Vincent

Bass         : Canuk62

Piano
& Synths   : Billy & J

Backin Vox : Pleasuredome & Benny

I'm walking out the door
After all is said and done
I just grab my things and run
And we were a million miles apart
Then a billion stars they came but
They no longer write your name

And I was wishing for someone new
Then I ....saw her walk into the room

Chorus

Sweet girl from Gemini
With starlight in her eyes
I'm hoping she'll fall down to earth so
I can make her mine
Light years away from home
Burning through the ozone
She's lighting up the sky tonight
That girl from Gemini

Verse 2

She glided up to me
The constellation of her eyes
Almost caught me by surprise
And I ...was pulled in by gravity
And the depth within her soul
Swallowed me like a black hole

Then I .....Saw she was not alone
But I........I still want to take her home

RPT Chorus

RPT Chorus x 2

Mark,

Really enjoyed the listen!!

Catchy melody and good hook to it.

Nice vocals, great playing by the band and a punchy clean mix!!

Well done!

Oh about the last two lines:

Then I .....Saw she was not alone
But I........I still want to take her home

and so you did...to mother perhaps  ;)??

Nice song CD...I like your vocals on this...has a unique style to them.

Glad i could help out with the song even though I only did the one main guitar riff...you got a lot of use out of it though and I like how you end the song with that riff as well.

I also liked the guitar work form the other players as well...like the harmonized ending lead riffs.

I don't see my air guitar credit.... or maybe I didn't play on this one. Hard to tell.  ???

Nice mix. Sounds really great and a good job by everyone playing. Nice!!  8)

I wasn't happy with the final mix , so I've had another go - see if you prefer it over the previous one.

(Just for curiosity sake more than anything...just my observations on this set-up) I'd try pulling back the rythm gtr(s) a notch....listening with fresh ears, it seems to distract from the rest and, at loud volumes, gets a little "grating" or "harsh" (hi mid in it)...may find by doing that it'll pull everything up to make it sound fuller and less midrange-y/harsh sounding...everything sounds great though, that's just my observation...going to re-adjust my set-up here I think today now that the drivers are worked-in as alot of those issues may be related to the set-up itself/have a dbx graphic eq installed before the power amp to get it as flat as possible at nearfield..
Anyway, sounds good!

(almost done my main home reno..final touch ups, will be looking to start down here next...what do you think of this company Mark? (room kit)...essentially what you see in the diagram is the layout of this room almost exactly)

It's still bugging the heck outta me , I'll try again !  Coulda written half a dozen new songs the tim I spent on this.

The room kits seem good, the guy who owns the company gives lots of advice on Sounds on Sound forums and seems pretty helpful , but the DIY option will work out much cheaper and just as good if you can bear to do any more work !

Lots of info for making broadband absorbers all over the web.  You can get all the basics done for alot less than buying ready made.

Hi Mark...what exactly in mix is annoying you? (just curious! ;D)
As for the room stuff, still a LONG way off as whoever originally finished this basement did a hack/penny pinching job with nothing even close to building code..even 20 years ago....ideally,finished want a "resale friendly" type of look...pretty close to what Mark (Gerk) did with his room, which seems to be the "in" look around these parts....minus the lcd projector and big console unfortunately! ;D ;D
(do want to do it during the winter months..suspicious I may have  very large colony of wasps inside one of the outside walls...hoping they may be "dormant" if I peel back that one wall and theres 10,000 of them in there...just be ready with a big bag)! ;D ;D ;D
Later!

It's my air guitar that's the problem. :-\  ::)

Hi Mark...what exactly in mix is annoying you? (just curious! ;D)

Not sure , It just hasn't come out as good as 'Destiny'  , and next to the other songs I've finished here it doesn't sound as good to me....maybe it's a number of things.  I'm not spending anymore time on it  :-\  .....' What Do I Do ' came out better I reckon

Obviously Dave's Air Guitar didn't help either  , he needs to sort his acoustics out also :-X

;D ;D ;D Gotta love that air guitar! Anyway, assuming you're eventually going to load them all up into a CD/album...or whatever they call it these days :D, they will all have to be remastered and such anyway to sound cohesive...same deal with the CBZ stuff or any albums people are working on here...that IS the one redeeming factor in this digital daw stuff (along with editing!), just reload it down the road and keep going...put a fork in it, as Tricia would say! ;D
