I wrote this song a while back. Pretty much about the fears of having to accept the responsibilities of the adult life (mortgage, wife, kids, bills,......),something that I think every working musician struggles balancing. I'm pretty much in a different space now,.. but the song is definitely relevant for another time of my life and with every listen,...brings me back. Ahhh music,... the melodic time machine!! ;D
Every one of my MCS friends came through for me on this one. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Thank you sooooo much guys!! ;)
WEIGHT OF THE WORLD
music and lyrics Jay Lamothe 2009
Drums...............groverk
Bass.................r4m
Guitars..............docmidnite
Mix/Master.........Argle
Keys/Vocals.......HDA
V1
These thoughts mystify me
These days terrify me
Take me back to yesterday
When my legs could run away,
and i know not the strains of responsibility
V2
Take all those who know me
Shake all those who think they know me
Well I have a new confession to make,
do you remember yesterday when i fell from the pain,
and then wallowed in your sympathy
CH
It's just the weight of the world
Verses the fate of the one
V3
Round up all you memories
Hide all of those treasuries
Keep them close for a rainy day
For when your back finally breaks,
let old dreams clean the stains of the sweat,
it flowed so liberally

Adam,.. I have this posted offsite and the reviews always mention the great mix. Maybe your role was not so small!! ;)

Wow guys...another jazz rock like materpiece.
I cant believe songs like these are not played on radio or not picked up by the fat suits from the record companies.
This is perfect in so many levels - vocals, guitars, keys, bass, drums not least a super vocal from Jay.
The piano-bass unison riff is a killer, and Doc's guitar playing is out of this world.
The mix is really fab - totally pro.
I guess I like this song :D
Cheers

Well, this is a very well dressed song. 8)
The production is fabulous as are the performances. A very well put together song.
Doc - You could live with the likes of Steve Lukather playing like that ;)
Jay, you're a considerably gifted and talented singer/songwriter musician. The melodies, dynamics and musicality are sheer class. Imensely enjoyable and as I listened I started dancing. That's the old grey whistle test passed.
More of the same please, gentlemen.
Billy.

Thanks Dave and AJ!! ;)
Billy,.. holy crap,.. you keep giving me reviews like that,.. and I'll keep ya dancin!! ;D

Steely Dan meets Toto.
Excellent song and execution from all - well done.
I love the subtle guitar playing throughout - lovely light touch, and the arpeggios and hints of dimished in the solo are spot on.

Thanks all.
Docs guitars are amazing on this! ;)
Steely Dan meets Toto,... I'll take that comparison any day!! :)
