Title: This Side of Midnight (Stoney/Mike/Andy)
Post by: Stoney on November 15, 2009, 02:36:31 PM
Well this is a rather dark little tale and I have know idea why it came to me but I never think too deeply about these things. Andy surprised me by coming up with a completely new and dynamic bassline compared to my original demo which gave the whole track a new life and Mike set light to another guitar and provided another stunning set of tracks.....thank you guys

Guitars - Mike - Snowdoguk
Bass  - Andy - AndyG6508
Drums/vocals/music/production - Ian - Stonehead

This Side of Midnight - Burrage 09

V1
I see faces on the ceiling
I try and count them all
Lips that smile with no feeling
All lies - Dark Lies
There's a distance with no future
It's a drop without a fall
Whispers passing with no speaker
Surprise - More lies

Ch - main
No one said you had to call me now
Spit your venom just to bring me down
The darkest hour would never make this right
No one sane would ever start this fight
- This side of Midnight -

Ch - overlay
No one called me now (Now)
Spit your venom down (Down)
Darkest hour is right (Right)
No one starts this fight

V2
I'm in bed but I'm not sleeping
These dreams are killing me
Night time terrors angry screaming
Our fight - Last night
One call and we're away
banging heads for all to see
There's so much we shouldn't say
I'm right - It's not right

V3
In the gutter I'm face down
You're the last thing that I see
I never liked this part of town
Same fight - New night
I saw the fist but not the blade
Smoke and lights deceived my eyes
It's not the message that you gave
Fresh blood - My blood

Hey Guys
Just thought i'd share a couple of reviews we picked up for this

A quick first impression and then I'll be back to say more. Love it. Vocals have a bit of a B52 feel, but with a British accent. Love the lyrics. Crisp sounding drums,I'm not sure what your original bassline was, but the present one's an absolute killer. Beautiful guitar work. Great recording and mix. This is indie music at its best in my view. On reflection, although I may come back and say some more I think I've said what I wanted to. Great work guys.

Cheers

Brian

Hi Ian, Mike and Andy - oh my, Tim Burton would love this song and would start with his work on another scary animation movie... and he would fire Danny Elfmann and take your songs as soundtrack hehe. I agree with Brian's B52 comparison, though you're definitely more modern, rockin' and coooool!!!
Pascal

Very nice reaction I think...well done

Ooooooooh...Spooky, Ian.  ;D  Terrific groove.  :)
I think I'd recognise Mike's incendiary guitar and Andy's driving bass
anywhere.  ;)

Your drums are hot, and your vocals just get better and better. ;D

Oh!!!... Another Burrage tune  ;D... Man this is really nice, it would never cross my mind to do such a song, besides, I can't sing like you and I would never ever find so many FX like you happen to find.

And it has a great mix... they're talking about punk but most of it sounds like the rough "The Police" stuff to me...

It reminds me of "Outland's D'amour" and "Reggatta de Blanc" records... Very rough and different at the time... It took me a long time get it but they were right.

Congratulations guys, it rocks.

Stoney,

Absolutely brilliant. Your video storyboards are developing nicely - increasingly sophisticated!

Liked that little clip of the band playing live.

absolutely fantastic :D Great story and brilliantly realised. How'd you get the instruments and character movement to play them? was that done in 3rd party software?

Great Tune Stoney  8)

I can hear the elements of B52's and the clash like some of the other posteres mentioned.  The bass line and drums really drive it along well and the mix rounds it off nicely.

Cheers Andy ... Muvizu's latest release comes with the instruments and moves ...however they are rather limited so you have to use editing, shots and angles to try and make them believable..... It's quite easy animating a song as the story board is roughly there for you... it's just a twist on the wording and then try and resolve it......This took between 60 - 90 with the composit layers hours but all fun

Glad you liked it  ;D ;D

Vocals remind me of Misfit's a bit, funkadelic, Kinda a timeless night out in the big city fell, sound tracking a few fast paced adventures feel to it
