Hi
This is a very strange track that developed from an old acoustic guitar riff I've had going round in my head for years. Mike supplied his usual brilliant off the wall guitar work which brought this beast to life... many thanks Mike...truly a pleasure working with you as always.
Mike Woodford (Snowdog) - Electric Guitars
Ian Burrage (Stonehead) - Other stuff
HERO-2-ZERO (Burrage 2010)
Verse 1
I'm mister know it all
And I've been round the world
But I was taken to me knees
With just one look from a little girl
I thought I had it all
More things than I'd ever need
But she saw through the masquerade
And knocked me squarely off my feet
Now I see through her eyes
Verse 2
I'm mister have it all
And I own half the world
But I would empty out the bank
For just one word from my little girl
I thought I'd buy it all
And sell what I didn't need
She'd seen all the game I played
Her victory was so complete
Now I see through her eyes
Chorus
I went from hero to zero
There's just no hiding it
This girls got x-ray eyes
I went from hero to zero
It's no good faking it
The truth is hiding in the lies
And I see through her eyes
Verse 3
I'm mister take it all
And I stole from the world
But I would give it back again
For another day with my little girl
I thought I had the time
To rectify my deeds
But she has gone so far away
And I am left with my deceit
Now I see through her eyes

Cool Stuff Ian... really enjoyed this even though it only took the Saturday to get down... I especially like the "no borders" attitude to working on songs with you because it gives me a chance to try out stuff that might not be accepted by others... I used a few chords in this which are accentually quite a long way off but give the sound (in my opinion) a cool edge .. it's also made me look into watching YouTube clips of Dept. S and R&H etc... classic programs from an ever increasing distant youth.. ;D ::) 8)
cheers dude..till the next one
Mike

Cheers Mike
I think that's what collabs should be about ...using other folks expertise and not confining their creativity too much...this would have been a much different, and lesser track without your strange chords ;D and I love how the tracks we work on can take unexpected turns in their development.....always open to new directions.
Looking forward to the next :)
Thanks Ian

Nice one Ian! I just listened on facebook! ;D :)

Been watching this guys as you know. Turned out great. The vocal melody and content fit perfectly I think Ian. If it were me,.. I would not explore another singer on this.
Fantastic guitars as usual Mike.
-
Thanks Jay!! Another one of Stoney's magic pieces... ;D

That's very kind Jay ....I guess it works ok but I never really like my voice ...outside my comfort zone :)
Glad you like it as it is a little different from my usual material...a little more serious than most...It's great working with Mike when he throws a curve ball as it makes you sit up and take another look...this is certainly a much better song for his input..the guitars really brought it to life.
Cheers and thanks for listening
Ian :)

Another xtc type offering guys!
Hey Ian, are you familiar with their song "The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul"?
"The man who sailed around his soul
From East to West, from pole to pole
With ego as his drunken captain
Greed, the mutineer, had trapped all reason in the hold"
_ Alan Partridge, XTC.
A great song (and one of Englands finest bands).
This is in that same vein. You always come up with interesting and often quirky stories. The music is superb and you guys are beginning to develop your own inimitable sound.
Looking forward to hearing more from you and Mike.
Billy.
-
Cheers Billy
I dont think I've heard that particular XTC track in fact I dont know much about them other than "Making Plans for Nigel" and "Sgt Rock"...a serious omission I think...I'm off to youtube shortly
Glad you like it and I hope Mike and I can keep developing these strange ditties ... it must be some kind of therapy. ;D
Ian
****Just watched the video...very jazzy and I love the Prisoner inspired set in Portmeirion :) ********

It must be a bugga living away from home for extended periods ...not sure I could stand it but hey if I got offered such a job....of course I would take it :-\
Home soon Ian

Enjoyed it, good listen.
Paul
-
Oh wow - what a track!! Simply love it!!! Warning: when Stoney gets serious....
"Out of the world" guitar playing Mike, great vocal and drumming Stoney (Ian Brown has nothing on you).
Everything about this song is great - wonderful dynamics - love the intro/outro too.
Another side of you Stoney...too bad you had a competent bassplayer lined up for this one.
Well done you two!!
Cheers
Andy
-
Cheers Paul and thanks for the listen
And thanks Andy ..you are very kind...this one is a bit odd really and I didn't have a competent bass player at all but I thought you were rather busy and away from home so I used my bass track..simple but it works...I'm sure I will have more tracks if you are interested.
Cheers Ian
-

Hi Stoney:
You are really developing your own style - very unique, I enjoyed the listen. I remember a short year ago you were hesitant about singing anything on this board, now you're almost a one man show.
Can't wait for your bathtub video ;D :o >:D
-
Not really Cas ...Mike added a lot to this song......I would love to have others involved but I like the simplicity and speed of keeping the roster small so for now I put up with my croaking... I can always open them up again later but while the songs are coming to me I'd rather get them in a finished form and move on to build the catalogue.
Glad you liked it
Ian :)
-
Good song, catchy.
-
Cheers William...much appreciated :)
