Here is a wonderful song that Marc wrote that captures the absolute essence of the one and only Marc Traynor.
Story-telling brilliance coupled with amazing musically creativity, we really miss you and feel so privileged to have been your friends.
Marc Traynor - Music/Lyrics/Bass Guitar/Blues Harp/Creativity/Vision/Talent/Uniqueness/Counsellor/Father/Husband/One in a Million/Friend.................your loss is felt the world over.
Supporting Cast -
Drums - Todd Vierra (Thunder)
Keyboards/String Arrangement - Jay Schankman (J)
Bagpipes - Anne (Anne The Piper)
Guitar/Vocals - Steve McAndrew (Pleasuredome)
Mix/Master - Mark Morgon-Shaw (CosmicDolphin)
Private Pat (Marc Traynor)
Patty grew up on down the farm near Perth, Ontario
In the family's old log farmhouse down the end of the gravel road
A simple farming family, though they had much love to spare
Grandma's eyes rarely wandered far from the boy with the flame-red hair
He listened to her stories of the Grandpa he never knew
Who died in the battle for Dieppe Beach in 1942
In wisdom gained through many years, and in a Grandma's way
She whispered into grandpa's ear and these the words she said
"My Love you're leaving the Lanark Valley
You're going to fight for King and Country
I'll raise our babes, and won't stop praying
Come back alive, my arms will be waiting."
Patty grew-up and wanted a trade, so he signed-up for the Ranks
Trained on wrenching diesels in those aging Leopard tanks
One year on when the order came out from the General in command
1st Battalion RCR, 6 months in Afghanistan
The troops and families gathered in the square to say goodbyes
His young wife held him tightly, trembling, tears welled in her eyes
And then the dreaded call came, time to board the motorcade
A few rushed final parting words, and these the words she said
"My Love you're leaving the Pembroke valley
Until you're back, we'll miss you badly
You make me proud, the man I married
Hurry back to me, and your child I carry"
It often makes me wonder and it's hard to understand
Why people risk their lives to serve in far off distant lands
A sense of pride and duty many men will never know
While they serve 10,000 miles away from home
6 months passed and the tour was done, more secure the danger zone
Equipment packed and loaded, now the time for heading home
From their outpost station, the road was dangerous as was long
10 miles short of Khandahar, singled out by a roadside bomb
The medics did their very best, only God knows how they tried
With shrapnel buried deep, within some minutes all had died
And when the team searched wreckage for belongings of the dead
A blood-stained, opened letter found, some fragments of it read
"I'll see you soon love, back in our valley
Your newborn son has joined our family
His flame-red hair, he has your eyes too
Hurry back my love, our family needs you
Speed home my love, this family loves you"
RIP our communal eternal inspiration and dymano.

Marc ,
I know you worked hard on this up until the end and had a real vision for this song. I hope I helped it get finished in the way you would have wanted it.
It was kinda hard finishing this knowing there are no more new songs to come from your locker. It was my privilege Bro to be a part of it. Like the song says ' We'll miss badly ' and quite rightly too.
A truly great song to sign off on. Well done guys.

Heartwrenching! Superbly written and performed. :'(

Beautiful tune. You guys did a great job on this. Marc is very proud I'm sure.

When I first heard this I said "WOW" and I'll say it again... WOW !!! Nice tune. The words are fantastic. This would make for good radio play. At least here in Canada. Way to sing it Steve. :) I think Marc would be proud of this one. I'm sure he his. Too many similarities in that someone is taken too soon. Life is strange. And fragile. Man I'm pissed off at god sometimes. Must be a reason for these things but I don't know why. Sure doesn't make sense to me. :( Nice job on the mix Mark. I'll play this often I'm sure.
Good job guys. Fantasic song Marc!!! Gonna miss ya bro!!

Thanks all for your kind comments :) :)
Thanks Mark for your patience regarding the many suggestions that resulted in you remix and remaster but I think we got there in the end and Marc would havebeen proud.
Hang in there Todd and yes, we will continue to make music bro..........life's too short not to and we simply have to share the god-gifted talent we have been given.
Dany intends on playing both Private Pat and Goodbye at Marc's memorial service.
I can also tell you that Marc did hear a near-completed version of this song and liked it before he added quote "Oh yeah, it's gonna take a lot of mixing". I am sure that Mark can confirm that it did indeed "take a lot of mixing"!

Guys
Another classic piece of story telling from Marc.
You guys (the band and Mark) did a special job on this. Like the others, I am convinced Marc would be proud at how this turned out.
Steve - a great reading, super vocal.
Thank you Marc, Steve, Todd, J and Mark, keep those tunes coming....

This was the first song played at Marc's funeral this morning. It sounded awesome...very well done and mixed. It was played loud and you felt like you were there, very moving.
-
I am just so glad it was a fitting tribute Casia, definitely one of Marc's most epic compositions.
Thanks for the update.

What a wonderful song!
I created a folder on my desktop labelled "A Tribute To Marc Traynor". This song is in it!
