Here's a song that started out a few years ago on the old OMF site. Its a song about my Sat Nav. Im on the road alot with work and silly as it may seem I gave my Sat Nave a name........Sadie.
Steffen ( Stoman ) contributed to the original song ( The Gerry Casey Version) a couple of years ago and has now remixed it with loads of the Stoman touch sprinkled through out. As this song has been around my house for the last couple of years in one form or another my 13 year old daughter Hannah has picked it up and started playing it on her piano, she also sings the vocals on the Hannah Clohessy Version. I sent this version to Steffen to see what he though of the "cover version" of Sadie. We all know Steffen loves different versions of the same song and so The Stoman mix of the Hannah version was born. So there it is one song 3 versions, I hope some of you take the time to listen to all 3. I would also like to add a big thank you to Steffen for sticking with this song as Im not around the site as much as I'd like to be, but he never gave up on the song.
Sadie
Verse 1
When we first met
You were left up on that shelf
But I knew you were the one for me
You guided me; you took control,
You lead me up some winding roads
But you're the one for me
Chorus
What did I do before I found you
Sadie my lady my guidance
What did I do before I found you
Sadie my lady my Star
Verse 2
You are with me
Every journey that I take
Long, short and overnight
Some may say
You make mistakes
But to me girl, you're still alright
Chorus
What did I do before I found you
Sadie my lady my guidance
What did I do before I found you
Sadie my lady my Star
Guitar solo
Chorus
What did I do before I found you
Sadie my lady my guidance
What did I do before I found you
Sadie my lady my Star

Hey, great song there Bobby :)
My favourite, by far, is the Gerry Casey version. He sounds SO much like David Coverdale! Steffen did a great job on the remix but, to me, something is lacking there that the Gerry version has. WTG guys!
Mick.

Very cool hearing all three versions! Each one has a great sound, nice to hear the different arrangements and approaches. I like them all - the third one has some pretty cool things in it!
-
This was fun, Bobby. I'm glad we finally crossed the finish line with this song.
I love all versions, but my favorite is the Hannah version. She sings like a grown-up. As if she has never done anything else ... You can be VERY proud of that girl (and I'm sure you are)!
BTW: In the Stoman mix of the Hannah version you forgot to mention that the drums are the same as in the original Hannah version.
Regards,
Steffen

Yes indeed it is nice to get this one finished steffen, I have corrected the drum credits in the opening post also. Thanks once again for all your help and maybe one day soon I'll get Hannah to the mic again.
Thanks Mick and Shawl for dropping in and listening I appreciate your comments. Mick you are not the first person to compare Gerry Casey to David Coverdale ;), Gerrys vocals are awesome on everything he does.
Cheers

Hey Bobby and Stoman,
Listened to version 1 so far.
Love it, great performances on guitar, vocals and the many fine keys parts by Steffen!
Like the beat a lot, the mix is very cool - another of Steffen's 70s classic mixes :). Just wish the drums were a little more "present" though!
Great stuff!

Hi Andy,
Thanks for listening and your comments. I think you'll find the other 2 versions very different >:D

Hi everyone
Great fun working on this one, it seems such a long time ago since I recorded the vocals for "Sadie" or indeed any other song; must get back in the swing again soon. Well done Alexander, Gerald (not me, the other one..!), Bob and Stoman for all your hard work, I hope to maybe record with you all again some time.
A great online recording debut for Hannah also, who knows, we might even record a duet version of the song yet, lets see!
As for sounding a bit like David Coverdale; perhaps more realistically a little like a poor Karaoke style David "Cover-Version" as a certain Mr Plant has referred to him in the past...ouch Robert ::)!!!, LoL...!, But thanks for the huge compliment Mick, cheers!

Bobby,
Listened to version2. Very charming - the piano driven beat was refreshing. Hannah's got a great voice btw - maybe Dad should talk her into diving into online collabs!!!
Gerry Cover-version,
The rest of us could do with your help more often ;)

Cool Bobby. Your daughter sings great. Really nice voice. 8) I'm a sucker for female vocals so I think my favourite out of the bunch is the second version with the piano & vocals. Sounds very modern, & simple. I like that in some tunes. Not too busy. The 3rd version is also good. It's like a remix of the second with more effects and sounds. The original with Gerry is also good. Modern rock male vocals. I still like the second version the best. Great tune guys. Very nice to listen too. I think I'll download the versions for later listening in the studio. :)

Very nice! :) I think Hannah's voice is similar to Alikat's! :)

great song Bobby!
You can be really happy and proud to have now 3 different versions. I like all versions. great work Steffen!
Bobby your daughter has a great voice! Nice vocals!

Thanks, ladies and gentlemen! :)
Gerry, I don't know who David Coverdale is, but I've heard others compare you with him too. So it obviously must be true. Although I doubt that that Coverdale guy is as good as you are. :)
Bobby, yes, get Hannah to sing some more. Make her join MC! :)

Steffen

Hi Stoman
David Coverdale took over from Ian Gillan in 1973 as lead singer with Deep Purple. In 1976 / 77 he went on to form Whitesnake and I've posted a few YouTube links below so you can have a look and listen to him as the decades passed by. He has a truly wonderful voice and I for certain have been greatly influenced by his style, but I'm nowhere in his league as a vocalist, I just love blues rock style singers from Paul Rodgers with Free/Bad Company , David Coverdale with Deep Purple and Whitesnake and of course Robert Plant with Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant was outraged when Jimmy Page recorded an album with Coverdale some years back when (Page) said that he was a phenomenal vocalist, sparking off name calling between them with Plant labelling Coverdale as "David Cover Version". Rock stars and their egos!!!

Whitesnake, (with big hair in the late 80's...) "HERE I GO AGAIN"

White snake (Their break through song in America in 1987 I think) "IS THIS LOVE?"

White snake (live a few years ago) "AIN'T NO LOVE IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

And finally, unplugged in Japan (a few years ago also), a Deep Purple song called "SOLDIER OF FORTUNE"

Enjoy :)!

Oh, THAT guy. Of course I do know him. I even read something about his career a while ago, when I was looking for some Whitesnake stuff at YouTube.
Yes, rock stars ... great talents with small minds. ;)
Thanks for the links!

Thanks for listening Mike, I agree I love the outro, Steffen did a fine job there. He gave the song a live Jertro Tull feel to it at that point.
I think you'll find the other versions a total contast to this version if you get a chance to listen to them. :)
Cheers

Good song...I think I like the idea of version3 the most but I kinda felt it hadn't quite come off production wise but there were lots of interesting ideas in it.
CD

I agree, Mark - the mix is flat and weak.
I finally learned that my monitor configuration was wrong, so I always though the bass was too boomy when in fact there was no bass at all. ;)
Now I've fixed that, and Sadie is one of the songs I'm going to re-mix soon.

Steffen

All of 'em are excellent, and make for fantastic listening, but I'm a die-hard GC fan. ;D
Good work all round in all three versions in any case.
Lovely to hear Hannah singing, Bobby. :) Maybe that duet Gerry mentioned will come to fruition? ;)

Thanks for the reminder Steffen,
Stomans new mix of the Gerry Casey version of Sadie is now uploaded to the opening post of this thread. :)

Thanks for posting the new mix, Bobby! I think we can all be satisfied with this song now, and I look forward to our next collaboration. :)
I intend to do a new mix of the Hannah version too as the current one is really poor. But I do like the individual parts, they just need to be mixed much better. And real drums would be great (or at least drum seps).

Steffen
