Title: Falling Apart (Casia/Christina)
Post by: Casia - lyricist on June 04, 2010, 06:47:51 AM
Hi:   A new song and my first collaboration, of many in the works, with Christina.  This took 1 month to do, very fast.  What do you think, is it any good??  I want some input before I post on my indie sites.  I like the instrumental solo part.

Falling Apart
Casia - Lyrics
Dave Martinez - Composition/drums/mix
Christina Britton - Vocals/melody
Raymond DeMeriden - Mix
Larry Youngman - Bass
Bill Barrett - Guitar

(Intro - spoken)
I'm falling apart
I'm falling to pieces
I'm falling apart
I'm falling apart

(V1)
Look into my eyes
Believe what I said
There's no hope for you
To climb back into my bed
I've thrown out your clothes
I can't live with your lies
You can stand naked
With your alibis

(Chorus)
You've confused my world
Now I'm falling apart
How will the pieces
Fit back in my heart
I'm falling to pieces
I'm falling apart
How will the pieces
Fit back in my heart
Falling apart

(V2)
One gentle touch
One taste of your smile
One kind word
And you drove me wild
Why didn't I know
How could I have known
That you had no feelings
They were cold like stone

(Chorus)
You've confused my world
Now I'm falling apart
How will the pieces
Fit back in my heart
I'm falling to pieces
I'm falling apart
How will the pieces
Fit back in my heart
Falling apart

- solo -

(Chorus)
You've confused my world
Now I'm falling apart
How will the pieces
How will the pieces
Fit back in my heart
I'm falling apart
I'm falling apart
How will the pieces (how will the pieces)
Fit back in my heart
Falling apart
Falling apart
Falling apart

Wow Casia, that is absolutely stunning! Your lyrics on this are perfect and everything about the song is just wonderful. Christina sounds very much like Kate Bush and that can't be a bad thing right? Great job!!

Thanks Mick, I wrote this lyric to existing music too :) rather than the other way around.

Do you think the guitar solo sounds out of place??  I actually like it?

Yes, I thought it was very classy. A little over processed for my taste but that's just me. You know, as a guitarist usually I concentrate on the lead guitar break more than the song. Not in this case though. The song is so good that I wanted the solo to be over and go back to the vocal .. lol. I actually preferred the lead guitar towards the end of the song when it was behind the vocals - very cool :)

Hi Cas
This a great track and she has a fabulous voice ...if I was going to be picky I would like to hear a little more sparkle and clarity on the vocal just to help it cut through the delays and reverb...this is very commercial...in a very good way...well done :O)

Very Kate Bush. Nice tune. Very dreamy. The solo's very nice. Gives it a good break. Well done.  8)

Nice, like the vocal and the lyrics.

Casia, that is quite an accomplishment to write to existing music, kudos to you.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate the feedback.

@PVD, actually I've been doing quite a bit of it and it's getting easier although I have a long ways to go.  If a song has a really strong beat I can figure it out and the beat counting is getting easier.  One of the most important things for me though is having a good melody maker and it doesn't matter.  Most females sing exactly what I give them no matter the tune of the song - they just fit it in and I'm in awe.  So, I don't have to think about the music so much.  The guys always cut and splice!!!!  I'm still trying to figure that one out, unless it's because females in general have a broader vocal range - or do they???

Yes, Christina does sound a bit like Kate Bush. Which is good! :)

The song has some 80s touch to it - which is good too. :)

I can even hear it arranged and mixed as a power pop ballad.

Very nice work.

  Steffen

Cass,

Congratulations!! A very well written, sung, performed and produced tune.

Sounds very professional.

You did a great job writing to an existing melody - your lyrics captured the mood perfectly.
