Title: Gimme Toys (Stoney/Cas/Snowdog/J)
Post by: Stoney on September 05, 2010, 01:12:37 PM
Cas asked me to to contribute to her 2010 XMAS album being distributed through the on-line music stores via Reverbnation. I am not clever enough to work directly from her original lyrics so she was kind enough to let me modify things to suit my limited capabilities and so I am now co-writing.
Mike has laid down his usual stonkin guitars and J has played his Christmas socks off with Organ and Piano...I did my usual stuff and a new track is born...Hope you like it....and....HAPPY BOUNCY CHRISTMAS!!

Casia - Lyrics

Snowdog - Guitars
J - Keyboards

Gimme Some Toys (Casia/Stoney)

(Intro)
It's Christmas again
I dont mean to offend
I dont need the crap
I got last year

(V1)
I got soap
On a rope
Santa you're such a dope
I wont need any shaving foam for years
I got  socks
Another tie
But Santa please tell why
I wont get any of my toys this year

(Ch)
Gimme, gimme, gimme toys
You know deep down I'm still a boy
I think that I've grown  too much
All your elves are out of touch

Gimme, gimme, gimme toys
You know deep down I'm still a boy
Dont need all this other stuff
I've got it all..I've had enough
I've got it all..I've had enough
I've got it all..I've had enough
I've got it all..I've had enough

(V2)
I got sweets
And a shirt
Santa cant keep his word
Tell me am I naughty or too nice
Old films
On DVD
My god I cant believe
I wouldn't buy this stuff at any price

(Brid)
I may be over 40
And just a little naughty
But deep down I'm just a boy my dear
You should know me better
I wrote it in my letter
All the things I really want this year

Stonking stuff indeed Ian and Casia... if this doesn't get them bouncing round the dinner table on Christmas day, nothing will. As usual, a fantastic bedtrack of drums and bass to play against with a vocal/lyrics that I can somehow relate to  ::) ::)

All topped off by a performance from j on piano that is out of this world (can imagine he was playing with his feet and all sorts)...

Brilliant, and thanks for the invite to play....

still have one sock on, though it was hanging on by a toe :)

Excellent job guys.. this really should be a Dr Demento classic. Somehow we need to send this one out viral, I think for sure it would catch on.. plenty of time before the holiday season sets in eh?

Thanks Ian for having me along once again.. I had a blast!!  8)

I've been doing some research and here is some of our competition this year.  There is talk on some sites that people don't want classic Christmas songs, they have enough.  Certainly nobody has a song quite like "Gimme Toys".  The only full album original seems to come from Fred Schneider that I've found so far with Susan Boyle close behind and expected to be the top seller this year.  Most are regular classics or a combination or classics with a few originals.  My album has 13 of my originals and two from another lyricist = 15 new and original songs.

Mariah Carey's new 2010 Christmas album "Merry Christmas II"  to be released early November will include traditional Christmas songs, remixes and two new songs.  Her first Christmas album in 1994, sold 12 million copies:  http://mytelus.com/music/news_details.do?id=904262

Annie Lennox (Eurythmics) - Christmas album "A Christmas Cornucopia" to be in stores November 22, 2010, featuring her interpretation of favorite christmas carols and one of her own songs "Universal Child" featured on American Idol.   http://mytelus.com/music/news_details.do?id=904262

Jessica Simpson new album

Katharine McPhee new album "Christmas Is The Time" featuring classic covers and an original self-written ballad.

Susan Boyle new Christmas album to be launched in October and expected to rake in millions of dollars. (a 1960s sounding album with more originals than covers).  In the meantime she is launching a contest that will allow one of her fans to sing the song that made her famous "I dreamed a dream".  The winner will have the priviledge of singing a duet on her xmas album.  Christina - you should enter this contest:  http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/07/23/2962431.htm.  Sing Silent Night and post it on Susan Boyle's youtube page.  Details of what's on the album still unconfirmed.

Scott Weiland new full length Christmas album probably launched in December of traditional Xmas songs and some with a twist such as a reggae adaptation of Little Drummer Boy.  http://consequenceofsound.net/2010/09/02/scott-weiland-prepares-full-length-christmas-album/

Blue Christmas by various artists singing traditional Christmas songs:  http://www.nectarmusicstore.com/Album.aspx?id=699755

Cher:  fans are trying to get Cher to do a christmas album, unconfirmed

Fred Schneider, B52 Frontman "Destination Christmas" to be released October 26 - 11 original "partly friendly" songs he wrote:  http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2010/08/04/fred-schneider-superions-destination-christmas/

Wilson Phillips, 1st Xmas album "Wilson Phillips Christmas in Harmony" 15 classics and some originals.  http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=12444291

Casia and all  - new album of Christimas originals never heard before ANYWHERE, mastered in Scotland at dogbizkits studios with 42 musicians from around the world to be released in October 2010.  I can add these peoples names to our promotion, press releases and tags and people googling them should find us too LOL LOL .  This means on all blogs about their songs we need to leave a "very nice" comment and a link to our stuff.  This includes all youtube videos with their XMAS songs, nice comments and a link to our songs.

... I have already started thinking about an animation for this ...IIan

Oh, I got a good tip for that animation:
"Mister Stoney eating the turkey all alone while the other band mates are starving and watching."

Very crazy tune guys, I love it.

@Jay:  And what does it mean when they say Fred Schneider "partly friendly" christmas songs.  What exactly does that mean "partly".. is the other half not friendly at all???  Maybe it was a typo on the site and it was suppose to be Party friendly hahahaha  ;D

I dunno Cas.. Fred seems like a fully friendly guy, really.. life of the party kind of guy. You ever see the Love Shack video? Fred Schneider IS a party all unto himself, I think. :)

Hi Cas

It's a life time membership, it doesn't cost a penny. You just lose your marbles and you have the right to wear your jacket back to front. You gain the ability to take two steps back and one to the side of life to gain a better and more informed perspective and you are formaly allowed to find the silly in any situation.
 ;D ;D ;D ;D
