It took me a looooong time to get back to this song. I had lost all interest in it then ... But I'm glad I started working on it again as I'm pretty satisfied with the result, and it would have been a pity not to finish it - especially because Brina did a great job on the vocals!
There may still be some minor adjustments to be done, but I think "almost done" is good enough for now. ;)
Vocals: Sabrina Doughty
Lyrics: Grant D. McLeman
Composed, arranged & mixed by Steffen Offermann
Edit 08 Dec 2010:
I added a couple of masters by people from another site. If anybody is interested, I can post FLAC versions of Suboptional's master and of the versions mastered by LogicDeLuxe (and of mine, of course).
Edit 18 Dec 2010:
This is the original lyric. It had to be modified slightly to be adequate for a female singer:
Wish
Love your face
The Saturday night of it
The early morning of it
The perfume of that smile
And I linger for a moment
In case you notice
That I have a face too
I have a face too
Give me a look
To match my dreams
make the air around me
Glow with your eyes
And remember
That I love your face
The everyday of it
The whole world play of it
The four seasons of that smile
And I stay a while and make a wish
That you see my face too
You see my face too

Steffen

Has a dreamlike quality to it. Very classy production and a vocal performance to match.
-
Well worth bringing back - excellent job all round.
-
Thanks, Billy & Chesook! I'm pleased that you like the song. I hope some more people will give it a listen too.
I'll post a slightly improved version along with a couple of masters done by other people in a short while.
Regards,
Steffen

The other masters have been posted. Please see the opening post!

Hey Steffen,
Lovin' this...the vocalist is superb, the production too. I reminds me of Film noir in the classic sense. Could be the openng for a, James Bond, movie. Sometimes, coming back for a fresh look is all it takes: in this case it was well worth the effort...Love it...Cheers!

Thanks, Johnny!
Give the other masters a listen to - especially the LogicDeLuxe dr11 version. I think it sounds great (even better as FLAC, of course)!
And note that the mastered version s are based on three slightly different mixes. I prefer the latest one.

Steffen

Hi Steffen
I really enjoyed the LogicDelux 11. But also liked the Macka mix.
Mimmo
-
Thanks for listening, Mimmo! Yes, the LogicDeLuxe masters are my favorites too. I'm pretty amazed at what Marek and the others were able to sqeeze out of my mix.
I think my own master sounds a bit dull compared with Marek's (LogicDeLuxe) master.

Steffen

Very nice! Sounds like it should be in a James Bond movie
-
Thanks - that's funny, you are the third one to tell me that. I really don't hear any Bond music in this song, but it's great to hear that others do. :)
Regards,
Steffen

I totally hear Bond in this. Especially when it starts out. It's Brina's vocals & the music that gives that vibe. I'd say that's a good thing. Nice tune guys. Glad you finished it off. :) 8)

You are a Smooth Dude Steffen and yes this would be a great Bond movie theme
Floaty Nice :)

Very nice Steffen and Brina... production on this is very good too.... no lyrics listed? Enjoyed this a lot

Thanks for being nice to me! :D
I'll post the lyrics in a couple of minutes (see first post then) ...

Lyrics have been posted.
It seems that most people don't listen to the latest version. My file names always contain the date and the number of the mix on that day. So Wish_20101205_04_master.mp3 is older than Wish_20101206_02_master.mp3! :)
Sorry for the confusion.
Regards,
Steffen

Very nice! :)
-
Thanks, Tricia! I still have your vocal seps, and I still want to use them. I just have to find the right approach ... Brina's version needed a completely different production than what I had originally planned.

Steffen

Nice song...the orignal mix sounds a bit coloured but the LogicDeluxe 11 master sounds better.
CD
-
Yes, I agree - the DR11 version by Marek Roth (LogicDeLuxe) is my favorite too. My own master was meant to be colored, but I seem to have gone over the top.
I think my bad room acoustics still fool me, and I hope to find a good solution for that within the next couple of months.
Regards,
Steffen (and thanks for listening! :) )

You're right , most important thing to sort out is the acoustics of the room you record and mix in.
Here's a thread from a while back when I did mine...

Very nice song, love those dissonances ;D.
-
VERY Nice folks.
I agree with CD the LogicDeLuxe 11 is the best mix.
-
Paulo and John, thanks for listening! And another score for Marek's master ... :)
I'm very satisfied with my mix and his master. But what bugs me a little bit is the performance of the synth drums. The song would do better with real drums IMO, even though it is a 70s-style pop song.
Mark, I'll have a look at that thread you posted. Thanks for the link. :)

SWEET! I really like this!!! Great job all!!!! 8)
Love the progression!

Thanks, Bill! :)
Everybody seems to grab the "wrong" file. ;) The latest AND best version is the DR11 master of my mix 20101206_02 by Marek Roth (LogicDeLuxe):
