Title: Burn the Asylum Down - Stonehinged Track 13 - THE LAST ONE
Post by: Stoney on December 16, 2010, 03:44:32 PM
Well this is it ...Album Complete... We have made our thirteenth track for "Trevor and Roger's 13 Stygian Tales".
True it did take us a little longer than we anticipated but heck who cares we had a great time doing it and I want to thank Casia,Andy Billy and J for making this such a fun and painless journey ...They really are a great bunch to work with and I hope we have more tunes in the pipeline.

As to what we do with the tracks now ..well we just don't know whether it's worth mastering for a CD hard release or keep to a project/band web page with downloads ... but they will be somewhere.

Here it is... a tale of madness and anarchy ... just another day then  ;D ;D .....Andy plays his usual really cool bass lines in this and is responsible for the crazy Twisted Funk middle section that works a treat.... Billy played his socks off... I usually keep one on .. but I cant play like Billy... J came back with superb keyboards thoughout but blew us away with the Moog and B3 in the mid..... and Cas.....well she was always there with the leather, the whip and an encouraging word  ;)

Anyway we hope you like it

Burn the Asylum Down - Burrage 2010

Cremated souls
From the asylum stroll
Mischief on their minds
Bodies burnt
With lessons learned
Still hidden from the blind

Padded rooms
That once were tombs
For the twisted and the broken
Have been turned to dust
By furies lust
Bedlams gates are open

(ch)
Burn the asylum down boys
Burn the asylum down down
Lunacy is on the wing madness comes to town
Burn the asylum down boys
Burn the asylum down down
Fill yourselves with whiskey boys inhibition drowns
It drowns .........Let the bastard drown

The eye see's pain
A tongue to blame
Others for our failings
It's just the lost
who pay the cost
The flesh to feed our cravings

All locks are gone
A demons song
Is heard above the city
A time to hide
Or suicide
The devil has no pity

Tales of old
And hero's bold
Battling with time
Deadly sins
Where evil wins
Cut down in their prime

This is no joke
Inside the smoke
Ruptured lungs still calling
Shattered bones
Amongst the stones
Screaming out their warning

Hey fellow Stonehingers,

Well done everyone - we did it!! - its takes quite something to get a project completed online - but we got there minus a cowbell or cobweb? or two.

I take a lot of satisfaction from that and it was a privilege and pleasure to be involved with the likes of a fine lyricist like Casia and absolutely brilliant musicians - Stoney, Billy and J - you guys rock!!!.

Thanks for having me on board. I know I would be listening to the complete set of songs often which cover various moods (mostly madcap!!) and musical styles.

Stoney - a special shout out to you for being the musical director/rock around which the project was built musically.

And Stoney - an ape of this beast would be much appreciated when you have the time!

Cheers
Andy

OMG Stoney ... I can't believe it's actually done - WooHoo!  An album's worth of amazing epic rock songs.  Thanks Stoney, Andy, Billy and Jay... you guys totally rock and are and will always be amazing in my eyes and it was "fun", really it was  ;D.

I checked the records and it seems we started our band project site on December 4, 2008 at 1:19:56 pm officially.  So, just over two years in the making and we're all still here and we're all still "twisted" friends and no permanent damage done with the whip, only a few scars, although I know some of you wanted more  :o .    Now for the story LMAO!!

I think Stoney is going to do a website and we'll sell some of our songs from there and I'll definitely keep an eye open for opportunities.  If you guys want to sell through the on-line stores worldwide, I can arrange that just let me know watcha want.

Kudos to the whole gang :)
Even at 2 years in the making, this is still a grand feat considering all the other collabs that each of you have participated in throughout those 2 years.
Great song to end it on - Burn the Asylum Down - is this a wacky tribute to the wild and crazy team that collaborated on this album ;)

Wishing you all the best,

John

Super fun project guys! Thank you Cas for inviting me to be a part of the debauchery.  :)

Ian.. anytime, my friend. it's been a pleasure meeting you, all of you, through this project. No denying the expert musicianship and songwriting ability of everyone, and that we all knew instantly which direction to go with each song, though it was quite a different path than you (rather, I) would normally travel. The trip was a good one, one I'd like to repeat. :)

Best of luck in the next phase. Let me know if I can help out with anything.

Oh God, they're back.

Great tune.
My advice - print up the CDs. Nothing like having something you can hold in your hands 10 years from now. I'll get a couple.

Congratulations on finishing the album everyone.. a very cool track to complete the set.... I suspect there will soon be a video collection to complement the tracks as well, this one certainly lends itself to an animated version

Many thanks for taking a listen and your kind comments ... I'm sure we will do something with the tracks as we have to complete the journey.

We DO need to complete the journey ... I for one NEED to see what happens to Trevor and Roger.  It could definitely be really cool.  There is a world of opportunity to do something cool with this, the only factor is "time".

I'll work with Stoney Babey behind the scenes  >:D and see what we can come up with ... no deadlines  :D :D

Let me know when you have it mastered Stoney and I'll get it up for sale around the world.  We need to put this into a virtual animated story.  13% of consumers buy virtual products and it's expected to increase.  Give 'em what they want.

I immediately recognize your sound, guys. That's good, isn't it?

Well played and produced. I love your voice, Ian! Still waiting for you to sing on a song of mine (or for us collaborating on a song with you singing). Maybe next year. :)

Great organ part too!

Regards,
  Steffen

And with your drums too, of course. But that I already have (remember it?). :)

Blatant promotion

After listening ... YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!

TREVOR AND ROGER'S THIRTEEN STYGIAN TALES

where most minds dare not go

Two years in the making my epic rock band "Stonehinged" has just finished their final track to put this twisted and tormented baby to bed.  You will definitely want to sit down and listen to the whole album in one sitting...AND once you do, you will be wondering if you are the one who's gone insane or if Trevor and Roger's influence has tipped you gently over the edge...Now in the mastering phase, stay tuned for a 2011 release.

PART II - In The Making ... yes, there is a part II.  The actual bizarre story of these two Fine British Gentlemen tieing all the songs together in a nice, tidy, unpredictable hallucination of a tale.  An album you won't be able to live without.  An album like none you've ever experienced.

An album you'll want to put in your player on a long journey to nowhere.  The pain, the passion, the glory, the friendship of a soul teetering on the brink of INSANITY ... INSANITY ... INSANITY .... INSANITY ...

"A nice cup of tea and everything will be fine ... pass the brownies"

This is very cool Ian. Really has your signature sound. Drums, vocals, bass... Very consistant.  8) I really dig your music and would love to have an album. I think you have some killer songs well worth mastering and burning to disc. I was listening to the radio on the way home tonight and the DJ's said here's a new band from California and they are very cool. I listen to the song and think WTF?? The tune was really mainstream and no meat. Really plain.  ::)  The stuff done here walks all over most of the stuff you hear on the radio waves. I don't get it. If I heard this song on the radio I would think.... wow.. what a cool band. Strange eh!!  ???

Keep em coming!!

and when do I get to play on one?  ???  ;D

Hey Dave
That is very nice of you ...The fact is that all the tracks coming out of MCS knock the spots off any chart material but we dont have reality or talent shows behind us so we would never get listened to ... for some reason that I have never understood the vast majority of the listening public need to be told what to listen to and that can only be done be a publicity machine... That being said as long as we make the music for ourselves and enjoy doing it we cant loose can we.
I am pretty sure we will see it through to a physical disc ...mainly for our own therapy I suspect ...but it will bring the project to a natural close.
There will be lots of silly songs to come Dave and I'm sure we will work together soon

Cheers and have a Great Christmas

Ian

It will definitely go to a CD and I will be putting it inconsignment shops throughout North America.  I am compiling a list now and there are some really good ones in the USA who will take this sort of stuff.  One in particular in Los Angelas that I like.  The hard part is maintaining administration of everything.  Sending 10 CDs here and there and contacting them by email every couple of weeks to see how things have progressed and if they need more and following up every six months to collect the money or they keep or discard the CDs, that sort of thing.

If I can set up a network of consignment shops in areas that collaborators live, we can help each other out.  I'd organize the promotion and our collaborators/street teams can help with the admin and get a free album or a %.   Ideally, sending some cardboard point of purchase displays along or it will just get hidden on the shelves with all the others.  AND, most of these places will put posters in the their windows.  So, we can just print out on 11 x 17 paper in color and that would work.  With $1,000 we could do a lot actually especially with the help of a street team and all of us working together.  It's time to take over Muuuuhahahah.  Any of our collaborators that perform in gigs, we'll get them to sell our CDs and most folk festivals have a booth that allow local artists to sell their CDs so the street teams could drop of CDs as well and pick them up when the festival is over.  People spend a lot of time browsing and ALWAYS give a free CD to the people in the CD tent to play as well.

Can we get a Sponsor please LOL.   I have my hooks into a few things at the moment that I hope will bring in some revenue in the new year but I'm not ready to share  ;D.  Some very interesting royalty opportunities.  And, this week for some reasone a few foreign indie film producers from Norway linked into me on linkedin so I responded and we're going to chat more in the new year.  These things take time and patience and connections so we just gotta keep plugging away and I'm certain things will happen for us .. I'm positive.

Merry Christmas EVERY one.
