This is a song that has taken a while to get to completion but the wait has been worth it. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this track. A fantastic vocal from George, excellent drum patterns from Steve, melodic bass riffs and runs from Gary, and simply sublime keys from j, who layers everything like a harmonic master chef. A superb set of lyrics by Rob brought to life by all you guys...
Vocals: George Williams - GuitarGeorge
Drums: Steve Smith - Albino
Bass: Gary Pownall - Floouk
Keys: Jay Schankman - j
Guitars, Music, Production: Mike Woodford - snowdoguk
Lyrics: Rob Wood - Lyricman
Paradox
Music and Arrangement by Mike Woodford
Lyrics by Robert Wood
INTRO
Sometimes I wonder where and how
As the fog descends to block my view
If I'm dreaming
Or staring back at you
V1
It's just my belief
As times goes by that
Rather than face the truth
I'd rather die
V2
But to my relief
With an open mind
I catch myself
Before two worlds collide
Pre-chorus
It's all a matter of perception
It's not a matter of fact
If I can keep my sanity intact
Chorus
Caught in a paradox
Living in a dream
Pressing hard for answers
Is harder than it seems
In between the questions
Lies a twisted form of trust
That hides between the scenes
Just below the dust
Caught in a paradox
Losing track of time
Lies about the circumstances
Could be thought a vicious crime
Right below the surface
Before my very eyes
Is the answer why....
Bridge x 2
Trapped on the edge of paralysis
Can't even scream
I think this is much more
Than a dream
Inst
V3
I may seem concerned
Judging by my state
But if there's a chance
I dare not wait
V4
Cuz I'm trapped in a void
Losing my mind
My every thought is
Locked in rewind
Pre-chorus
Chorus

Mike - it was fun to do, with great results.
I was disconcerted when we changed rhythmic approach part way through the project, inspired by Gary coming abord, but I am really glad we stuck with it .
You guys are a talented bunch of musicians who are a pleasure to work with.
It (prog) rocks. :)

I second everything George says... This was one mutha f****r of a track to do.
But one that is really satisfying to see come to fruition. :D
Thanks mike for the opportunity.

Good god are we finished?! ;D
What an absolute blast this has been. What an honour and a privilege it has been for me to work with the exceptionally fabulous musicians and people on this track. (you know who they are)
Mike, thanks for taking a chance on an unknown, for letting me flex my musical muscles and for letting me turn left, when I probably should have turned right. The fact that you did, says a lot about you.
Great mix too. I sincerely hope we can do this again some time.
John (jwoo) more than happy to work with you on future projects, your tempo, feel and groove on wounded healer was quite simply fabulous.
Well done Everybody - I couldn't be happier

This is a great example of what happens when you get a bunch of talented perfectionists together for a write. From the top to the bottom, this song excels, IMO. This caliber of musicianship makes it a challenge to keep up with. Good fun guys, here's to many more!

Great song guys - Nice vocals George. Everyone played nice and tight - the performaces all sound top notch.
It does sound like someone's filtered all the low end out though which is a shame.
CD
Edit ...Out of curiosity as you'd posted the ape I ran it through some mastering stuff to try & bring the bottom end back...Everything below 65hz was rolled off quite steeply...may want to look at your hi-pass filters in the mix ? Also a lot of low mids were missing and the treble boosted quite high ...makes me wonder if you mixed it on headphones ?

I've updated the mp3 version with a mix with more lower end and extending into the low mids... (I only removed it in the first place because there was a school of thought that there was too much low end) ::)
The .wma is the "original" and the .mp3 is bass enhanced
-
which one Snowy? v6 or v7 - mp3 I mean - I'd like to download the bass enhanced version.

Cool tune guys. George did a great job on the vocals for this. I wouldn't even know where to begin to sing to this. Great playing by all. Does have a bit of Rush feel to it. 8)

Cheers Dave, that's nice of you to say - A rush vibe eh?! Well I for one am honoured, although since snowdoguk wrote the song, a Rush vibe is hardly a suprprise.

thanks to everyone for your comments :)

This is very impressive, gentlemen.
I agree with the comments regarding George's vocal. We all know about his guitar virtuosity but I was knocked off my chair when I first heard George "open up" with his first vocal (sing it like you mean it) Blimey!!
A very engaging song and very well delivered by all concerned.
Billy.

10 years from now, when MCS has so many 1000's of songs that they have to start categorizing them, you will be able to find this song in the bin marked "Top Shelf" 8) 8)
