This lyric is based on "movies" from Charlie Chaplin, notice all the movie titles in the lyrics. I thought I posted this song before but guess not, it doesn't show anywhere. Anybody want to do some showtunes, I love this stuff :)
Oh Charlie
Casia - lyrics
Christina Britton - vocals and melody
Raymond deMeriden - concepts/bass/piano
Avi Rosenfeld - Guitar
Miguel Lira - Drummer
Raul Rodriquez Jr. - Production/arrangement
(V1)
I feel like I'm on the silent movie screen
Oh Charlie, you're heart is in the right place
Maybe, just maybe with one embrace
We'll have A Day's Pleasure and leave this rat race...
Behind us
(V2)
All work and no play makes a dull day
And everybody needs somebody sometime
Everybody sometimes needs to feel alive
To forget about all the cars and the Citylights...
(Chorus)
For what is life
Without love
What is love
Without a Song
You are the King of New York
Oh Charlie,
And I'm The Dutchess from HongKong
(V3)
If we close the curtain way too soon
Oh Charlie, the audience will never know
I'm A Woman of Paris, on with the Show
Just Twenty Minutes of Love
And you can see our hearts glow...
Our love grow
(Bridge)
All the lessons that we learn
Are Like The Circus
Like A Face In a Bar Room Floor
When I walk through the door
I want A Night Out , a walk in the dark
In The Park
Under the stars
(Chorus)
For what is life
Without love
What is love
Without a Song
You are the King of New York
Oh Charlie,
And I'm The Dutchess from HongKong
Oh, Charlie
Oh, Charlie
What is life without love

Well done, enjoyed this very much.
Paul

Thank you Paul. A bit of an acquired taste but very fun to write and sing for sure. It was a great project to be involved in.

Thumbs up, as usual! This could be directly from a 60s movie.
It also reminds me of the band "Vaya con Dios" - does anybody know them?
Regards,
Steffen
-
Thanks Steffen. I never heard of them. I seem to be lacking in my knowledge of bands. And now, there are just sooooo many of them, how do you ever keep track. I really only know you guys ;D ;D
And I think YOU ALL are one heck of a great band :-*. I will google them though :)

Hi Casia this is a great song and I think it's cool. I'm playing it more this afternoon. I'm a big fan of Charley Chaplin and I have a collectors editon on dvd of his greatest hits :). You did a fantastic job! Thank you Casia your friend Jimmy.
-
Thanks Jimmy, yes, Charlie is quite unique. A whole series of songs could actually be written just about him and his movies if one really wanted to and overlay them over his silent movies - a remix you might say to modernize them and colorize them in parts like the movie "Pleasantville".
-
Hi Casia Your welcome. You know that is a good idea what you mentioned. Making a whole series of songs about Charlie Chaplin. And I have the movie 'Pleasantville' on dvd to one of my favorites :). Thank you Casia your friend Jimmy.

Hi Casia,
Great song, I really enjoyed the listen very refreshing. Fantastic vocals, fits this genre perfectly. :)
Bobby
-
Thanks Bobby. Yeah, Christina does this genre very well .... too bad there wasn't more demand for it.
-
Hi Casia I was playing this cool song again tonight about Charlie Chaplin. I will play it more later on to. You did a fantastic job! Thank you Casia your friend Jimmy.
-
Thanks Jimmy lol!
-
Casia, this is truly an awesome song, lol! (gesticulating at your feet, ala Wayne's World) WE'RE NOT WORTHY! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!
:)
-
Hahaha. I haven't thought about Wayne's World for a long time ... thanks for that haha!
-
A good retro sounding song
-
Very nice guys ..The Lyrics and production suit Christina's vocals perfectly ..I like the modern/classic production as well ...lots of instrumental dynamic but the restricted band width on the vocals works a treat ...kinda like layering black and white vocals on a colour backing track .....I like it
Cheers Ian
-
Cool Stoney ... I love your interpretation, I may use it somewhere :)
-
I really like this. Very retro vibe.
-
Thanks Adam. Haven't seen you around much. How are you?
-
Oh I'm doing ok. :)
-
great stuff Casia! I can see myself sitting in a barroom, having a good drink and enjoying the band :-)
-
Thank you Holger. I would like to do a few more of this style, it's certainly different and does give you that flavor doesn't it.
