Title: Not A Love Song (Raul/Donna)
Post by: Donna on March 08, 2011, 01:16:25 PM
I was delighted when Raul contacted me a few months ago to ask if we could work together. This is our first collaboration.  ;)

Music/arrangement/instrumentation/vocals: Raul Rodriguez Jr.
Lyrics: Donna Devine

Not A Love Song

(v1)
Don't tease me with your chatter
'Cause only one thing matters
I was fine before you
Not going to change my ways

(v2)
Don't think the way your eyes glow
Will make me want to follow
I was fine before you
In how I spent my days

Chorus
This is not a love song
No starry skies in sight
No mention of a quiet walk
Or a moonlit summer night
No words about your tender ways
That fill my every thought
Don't think this is a love song
'Cause it's not

(v3)
Don't wonder if I tumbled
Would I be rightly humbled
I was fine before you
And never lost my heart

(v4)
Don't get your girlish hopes up
It's high time that I spoke up
I was fine before you
And nothing's going to start

Chorus
This is not a love song
No starry eyes in sight
No mention of a quiet walk
Or a moonlit summer night
No words about your tender ways
That fill my every thought
Don't think this is a love song
'Cause it's not

Bridge
Yet I keep coming back to the sweet voice, the smile
And maybe, only maybe, if you'd stay a while...

Chorus
But this is not a love song
No starry eyes in sight
No mention of a quiet walk
Or a moonlit summer night
No words about your tender ways
That fill my every thought
Don't think this is a love song
'Cause it's not

Repeat chorus

Hey, this is nice!

It has a Quincy Jones feel to it. I've always liked Raul's voice.

Well, I look forward to hearing the new version.

Thanks, Billy.  :)
Raul is definitely a talent to be reckoned with.  ;)

The updated version of the song is now in place.
