Title: whimsical (Johnny, stoman, Holger)
Post by: soulfrontier on March 23, 2011, 01:18:50 PM
Hello MCS,

this one was too fast for studio A  ;D. I decided to leave it for now as rough as it is. Johnny wrote the lyrics and Steffen the stoman was our mix master.
Thank you my friends for your great help!

John (Mr. Mom) wrote also great lyrics for this tune therefore we will see it soon in studio A and I hope together we will create another version of this tune.

lyrics               Johnny Ace Williams
music              Holger Bremer
mix                 Steffen Offermann

Whimsical

I don't know what she sees in me
But I'm content to just let it be
I can live with uncertainty
Happy when she's hurting me

Sweaty fun on a lazy day
Always hot where the devil plays
Wish i could have her more
She's all i'm living for

Silk straps and leather thongs
Everything put where it don't belong
Why is this so gratifying
Time with her so satisfying

Love can take some funny turns
There's many things to learn
And that's what she does
Teaches me a different kind of love

Whimsical,
Look what she's done to me
Our time goes by too fast
Whimsical,
It's what i've come to be
I try to make it last
Love the kinky games we play
A whimsical buffet

I like to think i'm enough for her
Makes me feel less in-secure
Maybe i'm a simple fool
That's ok it's cool

She'll never settle down
An' I won't quit coming round
I'll take what i can...get
Live with no regrets

Whimsical,
Look what she's done to me
Our time goes by too fast
Whimsical,
It's what i've come to be
I try to make it last
Love the kinky games we play
A whimsical buffet

Really nice tune and fun, quirky lyrics. Love the Beatle-esque style!   :)

Great job guys, Holger, you and Johnny make a good team! I just listened to your other song you guys finished. 8)

This is another great tune by Holger - thanks for giving me the chance to play with it and mix it my way.

And John, thanks for your encouraging words. I know pretty well that most folks at this site don't like the "old-fashioned" sound I'm into.  8)

Regards,
  Steffen

Some off-site comments: :)

TheTwoRegs:
Love this ..beautiful....excellent lyrics...love it

The vocal solo is excellent ha ha heed a classic Steffen

Oh the critic........it's too bloody good......

Geir:
oh yeah !!!

right up my alley !!

Love it too

Boneonbone:
Kind of a Rubber Soul  takes a ride through Magical Mystery Tour with a side of White Album.  Now that's the kind of meal I like.  Nice job all the way around.

Greeny:
Truly excellent stuff. A lovely bit of songwriting, and (as always) mixed to perfection. Sounds more like the Zombies than the Beatles to me (Oracle and Oddysey era). But they were pretty much copying the Beatles and Beach Boys on that, lol. That said, the fade out is very Macca. Anyway, it's great! And I like the vocal fx very much.

Chesook:
Another good one Steffen! Love the arrangement and the lyrics. The most Beatles sounding song I have heard of yours.

Bethan Mathis:
It is a great mix on such fine song.
Great vocal performance.

Norm:
Fantastic mix.

sister savage and the primitive methods:
Lovely stuff - warming.

lumberfork:
Fantastic. Great lyrics. Strangely Beatlesque.

And the ending is extra super double freakin' awesome! Great, cute tune.

Regards,
  Steffen

Its interesting that so many people say its a Beatles -like song  :). I had McCartney in mind when I wrote it.

Lovely song, guys. Lyrics, music, and the mix.

Nice, easy on the ears production and a somewhat eccentric vocal performance from Holger. This style suits your vocal so well.

Billy.

Thanks Andy!

Holger did all the work while i get to stand here grinning like the "cat who ate the canary" and pretend i played a big roll in this, i didn't! ;D

Holger's original is perfectly great, but what Steffen did was truly inspired. People say music sounds like, "them or they", but , to me, it sounds completely original...A Holger Original! 8)

Thank you for listening Billy!!  8)

Gritter:
A unique love song. Love the little touches you've added. A great song.

Willie Wendon:
Hi Steffen, a great piece of producing. Very Beatlesque but at the same time it's a great song that lends itself to that format. I think the whole package is just wonderful............Willie

fenderbender:
great song
great recording -
great buildup yet so laid back at the same time
great collab

facemask93:
Totally excellent track , mixed to perfection

Rob

Nelson:
Steffen
What a beautifully mixed and produced piece.

A very creative arrangement and your musicianship is just remarkable.

The vocals is also very playful and creative.

Your are a pro, Brother!

guest:
Way to smash it all together. Don't take that the wrong way. That's the only word I could think of right now. You have a much better grasp of music than me.

Richard L. Aceves:
very cool, it's great all around, well done to the three of you...

2monktup1:
lennonishness
