When I finally move house I found the box with my Adat tapes in, there's a bunch of stuff and this track in particular was too difficult to get a good mix of with the gear I had then...no automation , not enough pairs of hands...only one compressor..eek !
It was part of a session I recorded for a band called 'Jam Jah Man'. I also did their FOH at live shows.
There were only 8 tracks , so the drums and percussion were bounced down to two tracks before returning to record the overdubs.
I think if I could have got it mixed like this back then , they'd have been happy ::) As it was we left it off the demo tape and sent the other 3 songs....they got some record company interest, but it never materialised into a deal :'(

PS - Explicit Lyrics 8)

Geez Mark, this sounds practically like it could be a new release instead of something from 96. Reminds me of a Black Eyed Peas type of song, only better. ;)

Yeah, thanks, I was able to add the sound effects and stuff that we just couldn't do back then to fill the arrangement out a little...they were a pretty good band, we had alot of good gigs - I think they all liked the Brand New heavies and that kinda stuff. There's some other songs that I prefer to this which I'll have a go at remixing too.

Sounds really good CD. 8)

Yeah! This is good, Mark!
Not too keen on the rapping...very lightweight for my taste (sounds like George Michael)
The band is great though. There was an upsurge in London in the early 80's of that sound of fusion funk/soul/jazz with "Light of the World" who went on to become "Incognito". They inspired others like "Haircut 100" and "Freeze" (southern freeze) and "Second Image".
Have you got any more?

Yeah, there's four or five other songs from the same sessions - Those have got pretty decent mixes already but I'm remixing them, there's no rapping on the other ones.
Also if I can find the ADAT tape there's some from earlier when they had a brass section. I think that was my fave line-up but it was a 10 piece band and a bit of a nightmare to find anywhere that could get everyone on stage ;D
These tracks are the more slimmed down 6 piece they became.

You have hair enough to make this really cool mix... Well, i don't like much this kind of music but it's a matter of taste, it sounds great like the others of the sam genre.
Great mix.

This sounds bigger and fatter than 'Rain or Shine' but I prefer that song over this one.
