Title: classic Rock - stay, unplugged version added!
Post by: soulfrontier on November 08, 2011, 01:40:56 PM
this song was born here on MCS, grew up outside and is now back home. Johnny wrote the wonderful lyrics for my first little draft, we talked about it in the opinion forum thread.
ceka           electric guitars and bass
malt            Drums
nitromaniac  Mix
Johnny        Lyrics
soulfrontier  music, vocals, acoustic guitars

Thanks to all who helped me along the way!

Stay

Why,
Please tell me why
If changing's all it takes
You know I'll try

Fate,
Ocean of our dreams
Swam a great blue whale
thru my sub-conscious stream

Can't help but feel
That what we share is good
Only, sometimes...perhaps misunderstood

So now
You have to go away
It's selfish...
But I'm begging you stay

We'll play an have our way
On SOULful sunny days
An conquer all the FRONTIERs yet to come

Years and years of searching
Believing in my heart
That I would somehow find you in this mess
You can call me crazy
but I knew it from the start
We saw the stars aligning just for us

So you have to go away
And I should say, "Okay"
But in my heart I'm begging you...stay

Update 17.11.11
sorry, I forgot to add the unplugged version. It's now here  ;)

Really love your vocals on this Holger. Very nice mix and the music sounds fabulous. Tasty lead guitar!  8)  No takers over here at MCS? Missed out on a great song.

Nice one!  8)

thank you Paul and Dave!

yes Johnny wrote perfect lyrics for this song. Dave I agree its a shame that I did it outside MCS but what to do this guys were so fast... ;D I had their first auditions before I was able to start it in studio A.

Next time? Or if you like we can make our own version here!

hey Holger,

Thank you for posting this gem. You have been involved in many a fine song - but this one suits you to a T. Your performance is top class, along with rest of the band. The lyrics are well thought out too.

The melody is very appealing. The mixing/production is wonderful as well sounds radio ready.

You guys should do an entire project's worth of songs like this, I would buy the album!

Well done again!
Andy

This turned out beautiful Holger! :)

Thanks guys for the lyric kudos, i had a great piece of music to work with

Holger, this is as lovely as anything we've done together, but, in my opinion...

"ever onward" sits a little higher on the shelf 8) Cheers, my friend!

PS. Let's do "fool heart"

thank you Johnny for the beautiful lyrics! Something has to be on top and you cannot go over the top  ;).
I love both songs, "stay" is a very special song for me, it has a story behind...you know I told you that I need a break and will (at least for awhile) stay away from MCS and online collaboration....and you wrote "stay".

I'm surprised about all the great response and feedback for "ever onward" and I'm very happy and proud. But "stay" is at the moment my favourite song. Maybe its always the same....the youngest child is the sweetest... ;D ;D ;D in the eyes of mum and dad  ;D

Really Good Holger I`m diggin it.
Cyclone

thanks a lot mate, hope we can come together soon for a song! If you have something for me please let me know!

Is this the mix I heard over at Recording.de, or has Eberhard tweaked it? Sounds very good to me now, very suitable. Great listen.

I think this is your best song so far, Holger. And all the others were great already.

thank you Paulo!  :) I really appreciate your comment!
Hello Mimmo, thanks for the compliment, I'm glad that you liked the song.

Steffen thx, yes you already listened to this mix. When you first told me that this song will be your favourite soulfrontier tune I was surprised. But I think it's a good choice, thank you again!

My favorite is always, "The next one"! :)

But, but , but....Holger!

better than "Whimsical", or, "little love song", more than "Fair Weather Friends"!

....hmmm, I don't know....

Either way

i think it will hold its own ;D

guys I was asked about the unplugged version. Seems that a few people prefer that version. Look at the first posting, you can listen and see if you like it. Actually it's only a demo but I think it has a nice feeling. Not perfect but nice.  :)

Just let me know what you think.

Thanks
Holger

I loved the unplugged version, Holger, but

this version has grown on me...

It's the difference between a lovely, naked woman

and that same woman appearing before me in a stunning gown! ;D

My modesty leans to the latter

Unless...

i too am naked ;)  Cheers...

I think I prefer the unplugged version too. The guitars seem to be a little bit out of tune though - and I would mix them differently. But that's probably just my personal taste.

Great song anyway - both versions.

Regards,
  Steffen

very nice, reminds of Pete townshend & John lennon, I prefer the acoustic one.

thx Steffen and Captain!

Steffen I had a hard time tuning the old guitar...and I learnt that I need a new one at least for open tunings  ;D
that tuning is a compromise...not exactly in tune, I know. Sorry!

very nice, reminds of Pete townshend & John lennon, I prefer the acoustic one.
Captain that's a fine compliment, I like both musicians a lot!

cheers
Holger
