Title: One Way Brain Rush Galaxy Ride
Post by: mickbrit55 on November 12, 2011, 12:10:27 AM
A 1969-ish rock track with Hendrix overtones. My hat ( and toupee ) are completely off to my fellow collaborators who took the feel of this song and ran with it. Excellent work by everyone!

Lyrics : PVD
Lead and Backing Vocals : George
Bass, Drums, Percussion and Backing Vocals : Andy
Guitars and Music : Mick

One Way Brain Rush Galaxy Ride

(v1)
Follow the colors
They'll twist and turn
Follow my lead
You're going to learn
Hold on real tight
Reach for the stars
Don't you hear them
The distant guitars

(chorus)
We're going on a
One way brain rush
Galaxy ride
Don't let go
Or we'll collide
Let me be your guide
On a one way brain rush
Galaxy ride

(v2)
It's all upside down
The ceilings the floor
Light keeps bending
Slipping out the door
The center is so calm
Lay back and relax
Let the shapes run free
Like melting wax

(bridge)
Open your mind and you're going to find
A safe place to hide
The sights and sounds just ups no downs
Hey, you decide

(chorus)

I enjoyed this. Sounds a bit like somewhere between Hawkwind and Spirit.

This must be one of those long lost sessions from the Old Grey Whistle Test.

George really tackles the superb lyrics well and takes us on a ride with a rip roaring vocal . The guitar and bass push the song along with some clever interplay. I love it!

Oh yes :) this mix sure rocks Mick!!!

I really enjoyed seeing (hearing?) this one to come to fruition. Mick I really loved this delightfully retro slice of rock, great composition and what a scorcher of a guitar solo towards the end!!

VocalGeorge donned a kaftan, platforms and a scarf and belted out another great rock vocal performance.

Paul Im impressed by your ability to come up lyrics to existing music. They are suitably spacey!.

And this was a true collab with inputs from everyone, gracefully presided over by Mick.

When's the next one coming then?:)

Oh, thanks for having me along.

Andy

Oh man, listen again... This is the old school, that place where everything comes from  ;D...

... Lovely guys, one more, please.

Sounds like the begining of Deep Purple, many years ago, it's only missing, the all mighty Jon Lord  ;)

Thanks Paulo :) - I really value your appreciation :). I think Mick wanted a guitar-bass-drums song, but who know maybe he'd ask your talents on keys to grace another version!!

Always a pleasure reading your lyrics, Paul, that's a mark of quality you got on that pen, really... Although I'm not a native english reader, there's some kind of driving power you got on the brains that is tranposed to the pen, then to the paper.

You are all old as dust. Stone old.

I'm saying that because I don't want to feel old alone. :D

Let's make more more "old" music, guys!

Thanks everyone for the great and kind reviews. We worked hard to get a retro feel into this and, judging by your comments, we must have got it right. :)

Mick.
