Title: Rain or Shine - Funky Rock - Part 3 of my 1996 remixes
Post by: CosmicDolphin on December 29, 2011, 10:33:26 AM
This is the 3rd track from the recording sessions for ' Jam Jah Man' the band I used to do live shows and record demo's for in the 90's.

This one is a slightly more rocky track called ' Rain or Shine ' , I think they were trying to appeal the indie kids of the day  ::)

Again this was an 8 track recording so I couldn't do anything much to improve the drums.

Edit...posted the original 1996 Mix for comparison

Very cool tune. I like this a lot.  8) 8) 8)  The mastered version sounds much better. It's a good mix. Don't think the drums need much improving. It all gels very well together.

Thanks Bro - It's a total remix from the 8 track original tape, then mastered.

The drums were originally recorded to 6 tracks and bounced down to two. I think we had and AKGC100 on snare , a failry budget kick drum mic that I can't remember , Two Radio Shack PZM's as overheads/room Mics , an SM58 near the toms, and another dynamic on the percussion player.

The tricky part was balancing it before the other parts had been recorded on the 6 tracks we freed up with the bounce. I did it in my bedroom on HiFi Speakers  ;D  Not quite what I would have gone for now but not bad considering.
