Broken Lyrics Paul Dempsey 2011
Intro
V1 You will hear my footsteps
They'll make you turn around
No matter what the city
Or no matter what the town
To meet your date with retribution
That will not be delayed
As I must fulfill the promise
That through a veil of tears was made
CH1 I will have two clenched fists
and the blood drain from my face
Revenge will be on my tongue
as will be so sweet the taste
As then the will be done
that will not meet with haste
Yes, you will be the one
that is finally laid to waste
V2 You may have been my father
But only in a name
With mom dead, broken hearted
With you the one I blame
You thought you were invisible
Like a phantom in the night
But I knew there'd come a day
That I'd expose you to the light
M8
And when I visit her grave
I'll let her know just what I found
Just a lonely old man,
Now broken, run aground
SOLO
M8
And when I visit her grave
I'll let her know just what I found
Just a lonely old man,
Now so broken
CH2 I will have two clenched fists
and the blood drain from my face
Revenge will be on my tongue
as will be so sweet the taste
As then the will be done
that will not meet with haste
Yes, you will be the one
that is finally laid to waste
V3 I won't be there to kill you
But will spit right in your face
Revenge will be on my tongue
as will be so sweet the taste
As then the will be done
that will not meet with haste
Yes, you will be the one
that i finally lay to waste
Outro
And when I visit her grave
I'll let her know just what I found
Just a lonely old man, now so broken, run aground
And when I visit her grave
I'll let her know just what I found
Just a lonely old man, now so broken

I've posted an updated master in the original thread, I think I overcooked the first one. :-X
Great tune guys, and Steve's vocalls are always a seal of quality :).....

Super track guys! Top class write, performance and production by everyone concerned.
The arrangement is cool, different with a hypnotic quality to it. Reminds me vaguely of Stormbringer in spirit.
I-podded!!

iPodded eh? That'll do for me.

We're finished - hurrah!! another fab experience, working with some top class people. It never ceases to amaze me what good stuff can be generated from a guitar riff and a few chords.
More power to your elbow Mike.
Well done to cosmic Dolphin for a mix we can be proud of.
And to the rest of you guys, it's been an honour. ;D :D

Guys:
Great final, it was interesting watching this one bounce back and forward. It turned out much better than I originally thought, Steve vocals are great.
Mike, thanks for picking the lyric, you guys made it work well,
Paul

Guys.. the later mix is the better one in my opinion... the first mix is a little over-cooked... much better for the ipods ;)
Thanks again Mark for returning to it...
-
you mean the latter mix is better-i-poddausable?

Depends how you define mix... for me it's a mix of frequencies... so by changing the EQ or limiter settings on the master track still constitutes a different mix in my eyes >:D :P

LOL...the lines between mixing and mastering are blurring.
But mastering was originally invented to make sure the needle didn't jump out of the groove on the record due to rogue bass frequencies, so some sort of corrective eq was done by a man in a white coat.
Now we do it to give a final sheen , loudness or punch, or make it sound in context in an album situation as well as some corrective eq. The internal mix balance doesn't alter though hence the distinction between mixing and mastering...we don't wear the white coats anymore though ;D

This final mix sounds really great guys. 8) Nice job CD. Gotta hang in there until all the tweaks are done. It's worth it in the end. Nice to hear Steve sing for a change. :)
