Title: Another Day - (Mr. Mom / Billy Playle)
Post by: Billy on April 09, 2012, 02:44:45 PM

Haven't posted anything in a while.

I saw this in John's (Mr. Mom) forum and just had to run with it.

Plenty of songs written and sung about the subject of love so here's another.

Something to rouse the spirit.

Another Day

Lyrics - John Scunziano (Mr. Mom)
Music and vocal - Billy Playle

I used to wander.... I used to wonder
Where this old vagabond
Would spend his better days

I had no inkling... no rhyme or reason
To think a fairytale
Would ever come my way

It's hard explaining... the way I'm feeling
The joy I've found... the day that she found me
She makes me happy
She makes me breakfast... (an inside joke between wife and me. lol)
She makes glad... to live for another day

When true love finds you... don't be too busy
If you're distracted
It may just pass you buy

I wasn't looking... when love came calling
She really loves me
I see it in her eyes

It's hard explaining... the way I'm feeling
The joy I've found... the day that she found me
She makes me happy
She makes me breakfast...
She makes glad... to live for another day

Thank you for listening.

That's sweeeet Billy. :)
I listened to it for the first time, with my wife by my side. She liked it so much that she said she'll make me breakfast tomorrow... I might have gotten even more, but she's still recovering from back surgery. ^-^ ;D

The timing for this was nice also, our anniversary was April 2nd and my wife's birthday is Thursday... so I'm gonna pretend that I asked you to create this lovely song for her. LOL

Thanks Billy, and I agree with Steffen, the flutes work really well with this.

Cheers,
John

John and Billy,

Another fine collaboration....the flutes do give it a celtic flavour!

On an unrelated note, I always thought my grandfather George Walsh had more than a passing similarity to Billy. This pic from 1939 of George, also could be a dead ringer for my friend Thomas Dunne.

Seems everywhere I look, I'm reminded of Billy. :o ;)

Oh yes! Very dapper!

Thanks for the comments, guys.

It's actually a Penny whistle which is used a lot in Irish music. You can get them in various keys. The bagpipes at the end were purely to evoke visuals of misty mountain vistas from the "old country".

John - Don't worry, I too make breakfast for my wife not the other way round. Mind you, I do all the cooking in our house (I'm actually a qualified chef.....I should have kept quiet about that)

I liked your lyrics John, I thought they were rather sweet and sincere.

Billy.

Well you sure cooked up a sweet tune here. Nice acoustic guitar playing, the penny whistles fit well.

Sounds like it should be on the new Pixar soundtrack to 'Brave'.

;D ;D Now if there was a mistress involved Dave, I'd sure as hell be afraid to eat what the wife cooks for me! >:D
