Title: Stay_Hannah Clohessy
Post by: Black Stratman on March 08, 2013, 02:21:40 PM
This is my sixteen year old daughter singing and playing the recent Rihanna hit Stay. I posted this for help with mixing. Dwayne and Mick stepped up to the plate and you can hear their mixes here http://www.musicianscollaboration.com/forum/index.php?topic=9974.new;topicseen

Steffen (Stoman) found exactly what I was looking for, so big thanks to him.  8)
Steffens mix is the one attached to this post.

Regards
Bobby

First...that is one amazing voice.
Second...all the mixes have their merit.
I think my favorite mix is Mick's because i like how the vocals lay in the mix.
Although, i kinda liked the effect in Dwayne's mix (just might be a tad too much).
Of course Steffen's mix sounds very professional and clean.
Nice job everyone  ---  especially the singer.

I didnt care for mics mix much.

Mine isnt that great either and was a quick mix...My Pitch Cor skills need work.

Sto's is the best mix.

You chose the right mix.

No offence to Mic or anyone else however Stoman is good at mixing piano/keyboard related material.

NOTE: I've only had a chance to listen on my phone so that's not really the ideal sound system. I should go out and plug it in the car and crank it up and really listen.
But like i said...they each have their merit.
It comes down to personal taste and not so much about good or bad.

I disagree.

Ive heard enough good and bad mixes to know the difference.

Anyway its not a big deal...its just a mix.

No biggy.

Forget the mix, guys - what matters IMO is that the young lady did an awesome job. Didn't she?

 Steffen

What matters to me is that the crappy mix didn't get the credit.

I don't care what anyone thinks.

I meant what I said.

WOW, Bobby.  What a treat to listen to.  She is just getting better and better.  Soooo sweet and powerful, I love her style.  You must be very proud.  I could listen to her singing all day.

Nice vocals and piano  :)

I only heard Mick's and Steffen's mix and I prefer the Steffen version. Funny how with only a couple of tracks you can end with quite different sounding mixes.
