Title: Galileo's Child (Anthem of Eon) - Prog Rock
Post by: AndyG6508 on March 11, 2013, 08:21:06 PM
Song No.3 from the Anthem of Eon  :).

To me, one of the best songs I have been involved with. Fantastic write, performances and mix from the gang.

Galileo's Child is about the space probe sent out to Jupiter..it's mission was to collect data about the planet and transmit that back to earth. At the end of its life/payload it was allowed to be dragged into Jupiter's gravitational field where it would crash/burn to its destruction.

Galileo's Child (DePriest/Gupta/Fletcher/Wilkerson (c) 2010, 2013)

Verse 1:
Six years through the cold and dark,
Out here near the great red mark
A journey of a half a billion miles.
Above these neverending storms
Not like earth, so blue and warm.
I bear his name, Galileo's child.

Verse 2:
Through a tube of wood and glass.
My father saw this lonely path.
A giant's daughters no man had ever seen.
And did he dream his future son
Guided by the math he'd done,
To places where no man had ever been?

Chorus:
Fourteen years in space and time
To the Jovian pace I synchronize
Watch us through my father's eyes.
See us dance across the skies,
Tracing ellipses through the night
Gaining knowledge as I'm flying by
My father, in another time,
Saw it all within his mind,
And I feel I belong we're.
Jupiter's daughters and Galileo's Child.

Verse 3:
And when our dance is finally done
Like Daedelus beneath the sun
I'll fall into that giant's atmosphere.
Maybe some small part of me
Will cross into eternity
And I'll find my father waiting there.

Verse 4:
And that's the real discovery;
What lies beyond eternity?
Each of us was made by someone's hand.
And though I cannot love or smile
I can fly and dance a while
In places far beyond the reach of Man.

Chorus

Just got an email from dell and they're done with it and have shipped it back.
So however long it takes to get from texas to ohio...
I'm hoping by the weekend.
Then it's install microsoft security essentials and google chrome with adblock and hopefully that keeps me protected.
And then reinstall sonar, amplitube, ezmix and a few other plugins i had.
Keep it clean and simple.
And hopefully the sonar files i saved to a flash drive are all there and intact.

Ah - sitting in a hospital room with our youngest after a long recovery following his surgery, this makes me see that there's still a world out there. Fantastic song, wonderful to let it spill over and calm frayed nerves ..... Vocals are sublime .... playing is spot on .... production is awesome .... perfect  :)

Hi AndyD,

I really appreciate what you said, I am glad this offers a pleasant break from what must be very trying time for you. I hope the little one recovers soon from the latest operation.

Cheers
Andy

Thanks agan Mark, really appreciate the kind comment!

Yes, I love that genre, anything with beeps and squiggles lol.

When I was a kid my parents let me watch Dr Who, apparently I spent a lot of time hiding behind their chairs a lot during those episodes!!

It's a lot of work though, writing something like this.

Thank you so much magic J!!

Your parts are sublime and weave all the parts together brilliantly.

I hope you will find your way back to music and MCS soon, you are sorely missed.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the kind words. I think at that time it was a closed band thing.

I guess time takes it toll and even the mountains are washed away?
