Title: Stop The Rot (Albino/snowdoguk/AndyG6508)
Post by: Albino on April 11, 2014, 03:11:58 PM
Here is my first ever collaboration  ;D and with the wealth of talent that is found on this site it was a rather painless and smooth process due to the very talented people who chose to help me out and add their services to this project.
I tentatively posted up my first ever song with my first ever mix and before I could sit back a wonder what the hell I was doing, Mike (snowdoguk) had offered up his talents as had AndyG, the ball was rolling before my feet had touched the floor, we were collaborating!

Mike really brought this song alive with some excellent punky in-yer-face guitar work (love the noodly bits  >:D)
AndyG brought some solid and funky  bass work (love the runs  ;D)

And before I knew it my song had taken on a whole new life....for the better. It's amazing how different it sounded with people who can actually play the guitar.

Then the mix request's came in. Thank you to Mark Shrider (rightonthemark), Nick T, and Steffen. Snowdoguk did a mix as well.

Unfortunately Nick T has had laptop problems and has said he will post his version up as soon as he can. Steffen said from the start that his version is just for his pleasure so I am not sure if he will post his up into the finished section.
What we do have are two excellent mixes by Snowdoguk and rightonthemark. Then there is my version.

Michael Woodford: Guitar and solos
Andy Gupta:   Bass guitar, BV
Stephen Smith: Lyrics, Music, Vocals, BV, Drums
Mixes: Michael Woodford; Mark Shrider; Stephen Smith

STOP THE ROT

Stop the rot, can't stop the rot. x4

verse:

We care too much, it fuels our rage.
Enraging our beliefs so we cannot see what is at hand.
We are to trivial, we tow the line,
But we need to agree to disagree this is not right.

Prechorus:
The scales tip out of sight,
Austerity has turned off the light.

Chrous:
Stop the rot, can't stop the rot. x4
(and don't we know it)

Verse2:
Where is the fight, we were once known for?
The whores of greed rape our land (its) obscene we're left to pay.
We can't see the wood, for all the trees
I can see the theme in the scheming machine it's so passé

Prechorus:
It's time for you all to wake up,
instead of acting like you've run out of luck.

Chorus:

Stop the rot, can't stop the rot. x4
(and don't we know it)

Thank you Tricia,
Mike did do a fantastic job on the guitars, I must say.

It was weird, I felt dead nervous posting this in the finished thread. More nervous than I was up loading to Studio A.
Yes I think the other two mixes are really good (I cannot possibly comment on my own mix) and made me feel really excited when I heard them.

Thanks for the listen and the comments :-)

Joking aside, many congratulations Stevie on completing your first song. Many more to come i am sure!!

It was a blast to work on this tune with you and Snowy.

Love the energy you put across.

All the mixes have their merits.
Cheers
Andy

Lol
I think Tricia has inaugurated you to the guitarists section, she is not wrong.
We know (you and I) that you are actually an important part of the rhythm section.... but you have strings  :-\ so you are a.... guitarist  >:D

nice to see this completed.
and Steve...i totally get the nervous thing about posting in the finished forum.
i always worry if my songs measure up to the quality this site has consistently put out & whether or not there might be something that needs to be tweaked.
by the way...your mix sounds good to me.
i suppose, like mine or any other mix, someone can find something to critique --- but at the end of the day it sounded good; easy to listen to; nothing stuck out as offensive to the ear. so chalk it up as a success.
nice job & thanks for letting me fiddle with mixing it.

Thank you Mark  ;D I appreciate that  ;)
You can mess and fiddle all you want :-X
I echo those comments. I have always taken pride in the fact that I am a part of this website when I recommend it to friends/acquaintances...because of the STANDARD!!!!  ;D..........
I did worry a little about that, but at the end of the day it is just a punk song....but I am posting in the finished section.... :o
I think I was more scared of "finishing it." ....now where did I hear these wise  words echoing in my mind..."we don 't finish a mix, we abandon it.", yep. got that!.........  :)

Thanks Mark...rightonthe...  8)

if you need drums.... ;D ...

Congratulations on your first completed song Steve. A little gem full of energy, with a passionate statement about how "laissez faire" towards our "rulers" we have all become. Great stuff  8)

Thanks Mike,  I was getting suitably annoyed with how things have been and  the direction we are heading towards, and to my surprise, I actually felt a little better after I had written it.
But to be honest the song really came to life once your excellent guitars were in place.
(And Andy's bass of course...don't want you getting all pouty Andy, eh Tricia  ;))

I totally agree with the message. Come the glorious revolution!

Congrats on your first song and what a song. Love the energy from all the players. The Woodford-esque guitars are the driving force (rightly so.)

I look forward to more of the same.

Once a punk, always a punk.

It never leaves you, know.
I even moved on to the "Thrash" movement from punk

This has always provoked the attitude of " f**kyou" within me. So I can't wait for this government to just f***off.
