Do What You Do
Copyright 2008 Mark Lee Fletcher
Don't pay attention to what he says, or what they think, or what she knows
Don't pay attention to what they feel, or what she hears, or what he does
You do what you do
You do what you do
You do what you do
Cause if she hears anything about it, it's only what she hears
It's only what she hears
It's only what she hears
And if they know anything about it, it's only what they know
It's only what they know
It's only what they know
And if he says anything about it, it's only what he says
It's only what he says
It's only what he says
Don't pay attention to what he thinks, or what they know, or what she says
Don't pay attention to what she feels, or what he does, or what they hear

COOL !! Has a really 'soft' sound to this. Must have been Aidan's touch on this. This song is really cool. I knew that as soon as saw it was one of your tunes Mark. You should be a happy man producing music of this quality. Pat added some really nice guitar to this. Where is that guy? Such a great player. Nice stuff guys. They should be playing this on the radio. Better than what you hear out there. VERY NICE !!! 8) 8) 8)

Another good one. :)

What a lovely song! Great vocals, Mark, and an interesting lyric.
Well done all round! :)

Thanks folks! :)
Yeah Dave, this sounds different from all the other songs I've written because of Aidan's influence. Love the modern sound he gave it. 8)
I think life has stolen Pat away. This was one of the last things he did. Hope he makes it back soon!

And another one for my CD archive. :)

I hear a kind of Morrison influence in those vocals! Nice tune! Great mix on all!
-
Thanks guys. Morrison is one of my influences, Paul :)

Top stuff Mark. Your voice has a real quality to it and I really like your lyrics and delivery.
I'd be keen to hear your Horror flick compositions just out of interest....do you have a link?
Aidan.

Thanks Aidan, here are some sound bites of my horror film work (sorry, it's hard to tell much without the picture):

Also, you can see the trailer for Dark Remains, a film I helped produce, here:

Excellent stuff Mark. Music plays such an important part of films. It enhances the feel whether it's horror, sad or even happy.
I love the "when love turns cold" from the Freezer film. Backbone was good but I enjoyed the promo's 'Ghost of the Needle' and 'Freezer'. Have you seen a film called 'Outpost'?
Aidan.

Mark,
Very cool track - quite different and refreshingly so.
Good vocals and the track does have a "Doorsy" feel, with a more modern touch.
A very catchy choral hook to it too!!

Thanks Andy :)
Haven't seen Outpost, Aidan, but I'll check it out. A lot of my "scoring" is made up of natural sounds and household objects which I recorded and processed heavily. I found that actual music just isn't that scary, but dissonant sounds are. The musical parts were mostly done with Advanced Orchestra (the only usable library there was back then).

Thanks Andy :)

Are you kidding? Listen to the opening score to Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining' by Wendy Carlos & Rachel Elkind. I defy anyone not to find that scary (or at least on edge). But I agree that odd sounds that are treated with effects are great.
Sorry to hijack your thread sir! ::)

ps - Love the electric piano in this too!!

I agree, Kubrick had a knack for finding or attracting the scariest music. The Shining's score is a masterpiece. And all those Ligeti recordings in 2001 are disturbing as hell too. But I'd say the vast majority of films get it wrong ;)

Very nice...totally reminds me of something ::) Not sure what....but I like it. You have a really distinctive vocal Mark.
Nice playing by everyone involved.
I think your singing possibly reminds me of the guy from The Blue Nile....but a bit more baritone :D

Mark:
Very nice, moves smoothly. I thought it would be too repeative when I read the lyrics, but your delivery makes it quite refreshing and you have a good voice.

This came out great!
Nice job all!

Thanks guys!
CD, good to know. I'd never heard of The Blue Nile until I listened to a couple of songs.
PVD, they're repetitive because that's all the lyrics I could come up with. Now you know why I do 3-minute pop songs, with a solo in the middle. :)
