Title: Thinking Things I Shouldn't (Tricia, Andy, George)
Post by: napoleonboot on May 19, 2010, 05:35:58 PM
I've been chipping in guitar solos here on MCS for a few years now, and a few bass lines, but this is the first time on MCS that I've contributed much to the composition and production of a song.  Many thanks to Andy and CD for constructive comments on my many mixes, and to Andy and Tricia for great enthusiasm and musicianship.

Composition
lyrics & melody: Tricia Dovidio
music: George Williams

Musicians
vocals: Tricia Dovidio
bass & drums: Andy Gupta
guitar, production and additional drums: George Williams

Lyrics

Danger, after midnight at the party
When he walked in the door
Stranger, dressed in black, once our eyes met
I knew I wanted more
He had me thinking things I shouldn't
Making plans I swore I wouldn't

Mystery called my name, and I answered
Like I had no choice
Destiny feels the same as my passion
When I hear his voice
He had me thinking things I shouldn't
Making plans I swore I wouldn't

Secrets in my mind, I could tell him
Without saying a word
Weakness, made me blind to the warning
How I might get hurt
He had me thinking things I shouldn't
Making plans I swore I wouldn't

Oh, but being bad was looking good

(solo)

I never thought I would, but
Bad never looked so good

Danger, after midnight at the party
When he walked in the door
Stranger, dressed in black, once our eyes met
I knew I wanted more
He had me thinking things I shouldn't
Making plans I swore I wouldn't

Wooh oh, he had me thinking things I shoudln't
Woh, making plans
Oh

Tricia and George,

Many thanks for having me along for the ride.

Turned out to be a neat little rocker.

Tricia - nice vocal too, is this part of your "Tricycle" set?

George - great rhythm part and super solos in the mid and at the outro. good job on the mix as well.

Andy

Thanks George!! Great work! I'm so glad this song came together! Awesome! And thanks for the cool bass Andy, and the drums couldn't have been easy!!!  8)

I had written this to a short guitar segment at another site, and it went nowhere. George wrote this music based on my vocal melody alone. So cool, and he added an awesome bridge section, which really turned it into a song. Love it! 8)

Tricia's initial challenge of a vocal line with no accompaniament was one I couldn't resist. I love MCS, there's always something interesting to work on :)

Where did all my spare time go?

Was watching this song develop in Studio A and you guys did a fantastic job. Love that squashed tone on the lead guitar George, great playing too. Mix turned out great in the end, glad you stuck with it :)

Mick.

C'mon Tricia.. you can do it. Basically pummel the D note with a few other notes here and there...it would sound awesome live.

A sent a few songs to a local filmmaker for possible use in his new movie.

He ended up using this song for the last 10 seconds of his movie trailer. I think it fits perfectly!
